Freaky Friday questions

MSW will not settle

1.  What made you really want to have WLS?
High bp reaching 226/125 and I felt just fine.  It took another few years to accept that wls was the only way I'd loose weight in a reasonable time frame and get my bp out of stroke range for good.

2.  Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?
That's a must.  I'm a slow looser with metabolic and medication issues conspiring to keep me fat.  I can't afford not to stay vigilant.

3.  People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight.  Is there any truth to that?
Right now I'm still looking for an addiction I can afford.  I've been thinking about a sex addiction; however, there are just too many disease ridden skanky man *****s out there.

4.  Does your family support your decision to have WLS?
Yes they do.  Everyone knows I'll do what I please regardless, but other than reasonable concern there was no negativity.

5.  What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?

I should have focused more on my unique issues during my research instead of accepting the medical point of view that it would all come together just fine.  This would have saved me a tremendous amount of frustration early on when I was not seeing results like everyone else.  If I knew I was going to have a hard time loosing even with wls I could have managed my expectations and prepared myself mentally.  Once you anticipate a certain result, it is hard to learn after the fact that its not the same for you.

1.  What made you really want to have WLS?

My thyroid just spun out of control and I gained A LOT of weight in a VERY short time and that was IT!!!!  I was too through!!  All the fighting I had been doing to keep my weight in check was fruitless.  I felt so uncomfortable and sick all the time.  WLS was the only answer that made sense.

2.  Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?

I did for the first two years.  Now I struggle.  I have been off track ever since my husbands Cancer diagnosis.  He's better, but I'm not!!  So I just need to get myself together and get back to the basics.

3.  People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight.  Is there any truth to that?

Not for me.  I do believe others have replaced their addictions.   The truth is we can become addicted to anything.  Thus far, I have not replaced.  I just deal with the anxiety I'm feeling. Yes, I still deal with eating for emotional comfort and because I am stressing BUT now I catch myself .  I never binge, even if I could pysically do it, I won't do it now because I can see what's leading up to it.  I always catch myself and do alot of self talk.  Now, I get out of the house, go for drive, walk, run and have a long talk with God.  Works everytime.

4.  Does your family support your decision to have WLS?

Absolutely!!

5.  What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?

I would not have waiting so long and dealt with my insurance company.  I would have just moved forward and had surgery.  I wasted a year dealing with those people.  I hope they enjoy hell!

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

Now that you're here I've got a few questions for you:

1.  What made you really want to have WLS?

2.  Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?

3.  People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight.  Is there any truth to that?

4.  Does your family support your decision to have WLS?

5.  What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?

1)  Had high blood pressure, diabetes was getting to go ready insulin dependent. Both my parents are Diabetics and I seen the effects of if on them. My dad lost 3 toes, had to have a kidney transplant, has congestive heart failure, pacemaker put in and was in liver failure. They had only given him two years to live. I didn't want to go through all of that he went through I wanted to be around for my grandaughter.

2) For the first year and half I didnt roam out of my comfort level. However, now I will test the waters just a little ever now and then.

3) Yes, I no longer have food for my addiction now I have taken up gambling. I can be at the casino everyday especially if I win I will go back. I'm tring to break that habit right now because I dont want to loose everthing I have worked so hard for.

4) My parents supported me becuase they knew that I was headed down the same road they were riding. My husband on the other hand wanted me to stay big. He said he likes big cars, big women and big things... He didn't realize I was slowly dying inside.

5) If I could have only made the surgery be done quicker.

1.  What made you really want to have WLS? I wanted to take the easy way out.  Sike. In all seriousness, I felt like I was dying. Desperate conditions make you do desperate things and I was willing to try anything that would help change my life around.

2.  Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results? Sometimes. Some days are better than others. I'm fine with that and I accept it for what it is.

3.  People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight.  Is there any truth to that? Probably, I notice that I like shopping for clothes way more than I did preWLS. I do notice the desire to smoke is much stronger now than it was befofe surgery.

4.  Does your family support your decision to have WLS? Who knows, who cares. I didn't do it for them, I did it for me and my son. His opinion doesn't count, he's too little to have one.

5.  What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?
IDK
