Freaky Friday questions
****** SIKE ******
Now that you're here I've got a few questions for you:
1. What made you really want to have WLS?
2. Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?
3. People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight. Is there any truth to that?
4. Does your family support your decision to have WLS?
5. What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?
1. What made you really want to have WLS? I was tired of being tired. I had no energy and didn't want to do anything. Plus diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family and I didn't want the curse to continue with me. So I decided to go for WLS and I'm glad I did.
2. Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results? For the first 2 years I was very health concious. I'm now kinda slacking a little but have gotten back on the wagon as of June 09. So I really watching wat I eat. I just wish I could kill that damn CARB MONSTER.
3. People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight. Is there any truth to that? My new addiction in the beggining was working out. Now it's just eating healthy. My co-workers are HATERS cause I'm protein this protein that and I do watch what I eat for the most part.
4. Does your family support your decision to have WLS? Yes, my family was very supportive.
5. What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery? I wouldn't change a thing because my process went very quickly. I didn't have to do 1-6 months of dieting, liquids pre-op, none of that. So my process was awesome.
I was the same way, now I think mine is shopping for new clothes. I can't seem to help it but I gotta fall back on that though.
2. Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results? Not all the time. I would say about 85% of the time I follow proper eating habits. Here recently it has been about 95% of the time because I really want to make my Labor Day challenge of getting to 185 pounds.
3. People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight. Is there any truth to that? I still have my same habits of shopping so nothing has changed for me.
4. Does your family support your decision to have WLS? Yes they all supported me. My Mom was a little tough at first but she came around.
5. What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery? I can't think of anything.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
1. What made you really want to have WLS?
I was tired of being tired, my knees, and ankles and back was hurting. Then I had cellulites in my legs I thought it was because of my weight so I talked to my PCP about WLS.
2. Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?
Most of the time
3. People often say that WLS patients take on new addictions after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight. Is there any truth to that?
I’m shopping for clothes and stuff to put on my motorcycle
4. Does your family support your decision to have WLS?
Yes
5. What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?
All the pre-surgery run around I had to do.
2) I would have to say I am still learning. Over all tho, as a person who has always eaten what she wanted without shame I would say I am coming a long way.
3) I too would have to say food shopping for heathlier meals. Also I am begining to enjoy clothes again so I would say yes
4) Yes. Those close to me def support my decision.
5) Hmmm, I can not recall any part of my process I would change. I had heard about WLS years ago however I was not ready. From my seminar with Dr. Abkin and team up til 3/9/09 renewed life date, I have nothing to change.
DA, my co-workers also look at what Im eating and also how Im looking.
1. What made you really want to have WLS?
Heart disease is prevalent on my mom's side of the family. My mother and her (8) siblings have all had heart attacks and/or strokes. Some passed away, some still struggling along. My weight was setting me up to be next. One aunt died that was SMO. Had to order a special casket for her. They forgot to tell the cemetery it was a special oversized casket. Got to the graveside, and they could not bury her. We had to leave right after the service so they could bring in a backhoe to dig a bigger grave. So sad!
2. Do you follow proper eating habits to help ensure good results?
Honestly no. I choose from the list the dr gave but as soon as I lost the majority of my weight, I got very complacent, thought I had it licked and could eat whatever I want, in smaller quantities and the weight was gone forever. NOT!!! After finally getting into some serious exercising, I find that I am a little more conscious of what I eat, but it still is not great every day.
3. People often say that WLS patients take on new addicitons after they put their food habits in check and start losing weight. Is there any truth to that?
CLOTHES SHOPPING! 3 years later and I am still hooked. Went to meet some friends at Starbucks for a meeting last night and Lane Bryant had to be next door. 2 new blouses....
4. Does your family support your decision to have WLS?
Yes. The only person who was a little leery at first was my dad. When I was researching the surgery, I was at their house one day and changed the TV to Discovery Health and started watching a program about the surgery. My dad says watch watching that for. you not thinking about that. You are fine as you are. Your husband married you a certain way so don't you go changing. I ignored him and made him watch it. He never mentioned it again and when I finally decided to have the surgery he was on board 100% like every one else. He knew he was outnumbered anyway. Love my dad but mom rules that house and me second. He is my comic relief not my advice giver.
5. What is the one thing you'd change, if you could, about the entire process leading up to surgery?
Wish I had found OH and my current support group. The support group I was a part of at that time was very tight knit and not as welcoming. They gave some good advice but I never felt like they were my friends. I got real friends now, real wls friends!
