Ayy yo,

Today's sermon boys and girls is on the simple **** that we can either prevent or take care of but simply don't because... we often just say "Fugg it!" and keep it moving.  Take for example, Pseudofolliculitis Nuchae.  I know, I know... Hard to pronounce right?  In laymens terms it's those nasty looking gott-dayum bumps that be bubbling up on the back of a ninja's neck.  Ewwwwwwww Yeah the technical name is starting to sound a lot better right?

When you have this condition, as I once did, you tend to try all sorts of home remedies, salves, tonics, and astringents but those darn bumps will still be back there like racist attitudes in the dirty south.  Damnit you may not be able to see them it but you know that they are there... somewhere.

This condition occurs when curved hairs are cut short and are allowed to grow back into the skin.  If left untreated, this can develop into acne keloidalis nuchae, a condition where hard, dark keloid-like bumps form on the neck.  Now that's some nasty looking **** Boss.

When I was a kid there was a guy that used to walk around town all the time with those bumps clustered up on his neck looking like the back of a dayum Nestle Crunch bar.  First they started out as a few little pimplish looking bumps.  No real problem.  He let them go untreated for a while and those dayum things must've had a meeting, decided to multiply, and spread a lot higher on his neck right into his hairline.  A few months later the ruling faction of the new Bump-to-Bump Nation on his head decided to stage a takeover and grab even more real estate on his dome piece.

Well Damn!

Soon barbers and salons in the area refused to give him a haircut out of fear that he would infect their other patrons.  They didn't know but I guess they felt it was the best thing to do given what they saw.  Soon homeboy was forced to walk around like a modern day Quasi Modo with a bumpy azz 'fro, not looking folks directly in their eyes as he passed them on the street, and getting a chilly reception when those that didn't know him stopped to focus on his head long enough.

Now I know some of you guys (and gals) out there are thinking, Why is Double_Ayy! telling family business like this and putting the brothas on blast who suffer from this problem?  The truth of the matter is that some of us, myself for a long time included, just go on suffering with **** like this, rather than doing something proactive about it.  When I had them, I finally came to my senses and went to see a dermatologist.  She injected those little nasty-fat-nasties with some cream, gave me a prescription for a medicinal shampoo, and I was good to go in a matter of weeks.

The point is we don't have to suffer in silence, Brothas.  We don't!  If you have those bumps on your neck, get your azz up and go see a dermatologist.  Now!  I'm often tempted to pull the young brothas coats that I see going through this but the truth of the matter is even if I do, most of them will just push my help and support aside and keep on rubbing their homegrown magic salves and/or 11 secret herbs and spices on their bump patch in a futile attempt to rid themselves of their plight.  Ahhhh...  Poor Dummies!

Now you know...
And knowing is half the battle.

Go Bro!
