New Post-op Tip of The Day

This is a topic that has been asked quite often on every board on OH including BAF and I'm going to address it and guess what? It will continue to be asked again and again because there are constantly new people coming to the boards and not everyone reads every post. This topic is about loose skin and losing your hair. Guess what? There is no definite answer to this question. Many people think that because we are black or because you are young you won't have loose skin but that's not necessarily true. If you have 200 lbs to lose you will have some loose skin because of the elasticity of the skin. Many people think that by taking biotin they will not lose their hair. Wrong. Some people lose a little bit of hair, a whole lot of hair or no hair at all. One thing for sure, is that if you don't get enough protein in, you will lose a lot of hair. I took biotin faithfully and lost about 1/3 of my hair but I had enough hair for 4 people and the only chemicals I use is hair color. I have very little loose skin I think because of my height and I've lost  173 lbs. So it's fair to say that no one has the definite answer about this. Exercise and weightlifting can definitely help build muscle and tone your body but you should expect to have some loose skin with a great weight loss. You had this surgery for better health so you can wear a wig and get plastic surgery if the loose skin and thinner hair bothers you or you can do like so many of us do and wear a foundation garment and let our hair fly in the wind and enjoy our lighter bodies.
