Are you cheating if you enter a weight loss competition against 'regular' folk?
I'd bet a honeymooner could take the prize, but as someone else mentioned above, if word got out that they had the edge, there could be a mobbing!
As for those of us long out of the honeymoon phase, well, it's another story!
On a personal note, since I got back on track in mid-April, I've worked HARD to lose 9.5 pounds, while my husband has managed to lose about 20 in the same time, and I exercise more. He got on the scale this morning and discovered that he has lost 4 pounds in the last week! I realize that men lose weight faster, but I just wish the scale wiould move as fast for me as it is for him!

We just had a challenge here at work, 6 weeks contest!
I entered and came in 4th place ! LOL
Although I lost 5 pounds throughout the challenge, I am in the "stalled out phase of my " weight loss journey" being that I was at my highest at 300 pounds ! I am losing slow now.
In this phase, I don't think I have any advantages !!

Good question... I do think that people who have had WLS have an advantage, but hey if they dont put it in the rules is it really Cheating? Cheating to me means the rules state that no contestant can have wls.... now if you enter and withhold this information ..thats cheating!!!
all this said i do think We would have an advantage in the race

If anyone has read my story you would know that getting the weight off for me is a struggle no matter what I do. I myself considered signing up for the biggest loser to see if they could help me out. I do however think that it would be wrong simply because I eat less than everyone here and if I don't eat I don't get hungry. They had a biggest loser challenge here at my job as well and to keep me out they put in the announcement that if you have had "cosmetic" surgery that you could not participate. COSMETIC
?!!!! Will someone please tell me what is cosmetic about sagging skin from head to toe, deflated breasts and bat wings! I had no intention of signing up for the fact that I had surgery, but please don't call it cosmetic.

It depends...
If the contest indicates everyone must follow the same plan e.g. meal plan, workout at least x times a week, see a therapist, etc. then yes because then I do have an extra tool under my belt that no one else has.
Now if the contest just says whoever loses the most weight each week in whatever manner you choose, then it's on!
I am 3 yrs out and it is tough making that scale move no matter how good much I follow the basics.

If I am gonna eat like a fat girl, then I gotta workout
like a skinny girl!

Not if you're a few years out and trying to loose what you've re gained or never lost in the first place. If you need to stick to a low cal diet with strenuous exercise after you've been doing everything but your program, I say you're on fairly equal footing.
If you're braggin about eat'n 3grand in calories a day while still loosing weight, then heeyylll no!

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I say it's cheating. I can't pack no where near the amount of food in my stomach that I used to eat. So it's an unfair advantage because If I mess up I can't mess up the same way someone with an intact stomach would. In the exercise department we would be on equal footing but foodwise I have an advantage.
