I need some motivation/advice....
Hey BAF,
because right now I'm having a tough time doing anything. I am currently eating less than 100 calories per day and I have no desire to eat or drink. I get in most of my vitamins but damn that seems like a huge chore.
protein drinks disgust/scare me and so does most foods. what's wrong with me? I want to work out but because I'm eating so little i'm scared I will just be wasting my time or better yet that I'll pass out.
Any suggestions would be helpful because I'm feeling like a failure right about now.

Scare wasn't a good use of words. I hate milk, and to smell the brings back my dislike for milk. I have never been a huge drinker meaning I could go hours without a drink pre-op. As far as food lots of the things that I can eat at this stage I don't/have never liked (yogurt, cheese, etc.) so I feel so limited. My dr. well i have an appointment tomorrow and I'm going to discuss this with him.
I know you don't feel like it honey, but you have got to eat and drink. You really don't want to end up dehydrated or malnourished and back in the hospital. As far as protein drinks go there are ones that don't require milk and that don't stink. I myself use Isopure powder and you get 25 grams of protein in a half of serving. The only powders though that I liked are the orange pineapple banana, banana creme and dutch chocolate. I get them from GNC and that way if I don't like the way they taste I can take it back and exchange it until I find one that I like.
You have got to get your water in too. whether you feel like it or not you have got to drink drink and drink some more. It's no joke what we have done to our bodies and now we need to take care of them so something doesn't go terribly wrong.
A lot of times I will take some lunch meat and roll cheese, hot peppers and avocado up in it and put it in the microwave to melt. It tastes really good and the cheese has a different flavor when melted. You might see if that is better for you. I never really ate cheese by itself, but my taste buds have changed so much since surgery and now I eat sharp cheese all the time.

Thanks for the advice. I will have to try the roll ups out because anything is better than nothing and I tried the isopure ready to drink and it was horrible maybe I'll try the powder
Thanks again
Is diluted juice ok? I hate light drinks and I have found that drinking regular juice diluted works better for me.

Yeah I hated the ready to drink isopure too. It was just nasty to me. When it comes to juice all I can think about is the sugar content and calories. I would rather use mine on getting my protein in. I think different people on here will say different things when it comes to juice, but I myself don't drink it. I do drink propel (which has 5 calories a serving) and I drink crystal light and all generic versions of it. They do have light versions of juice as well like cran grape so you might want to check that out.
Hang in there. I think the first couple of weeks are really hard but you have to try to get your fluids and protein in - your long term success depends on it. I absolutely HATE HATE HATE the smell of the protein drinks. I used the Any Whey protein bullets (from GNC) which were 42 grams of protein per 3 oz. tube. To me even though the taste wasn't that great, it was only an ounce at a time and I figured I could handle that.
You can do this! I'm 9 months out and about 13 pounds from my goal. The times when I haven't lost as much is when I didn't get my protein and liquids in like I should have. So....if you want to maximize your weight loss in the "honeymoon period" - ya gotta get the protein and liquids in!
Good Luck!

I struggled with food early on too. Have you tried milk free proteins?
Many people don't like soy but there are plenty 100% soy products out there. There's also pea protein and rice protein but they really tast like crap. Egg white protein tasts best to me but its not available everywhere.
Jay Robb egg white protein in vanilla and chocolate is very mild in flavor, not gritty, and has no millk. I use vanilla mixed with water. It will take on the flavor of what you put in it. Its available at Vitamin Shoppe and jayrobb.com. Warning, its pricey at $23.00 for 10 servings. Netrition.com also has a variety of egg white proteins.
Appetite may be an issue for months so you've got to find a friendly food. Even 4 months out its a challlenge. My friendly foods are egg white protein shakes, low carb protein bars (look out for sugar alchohols) and nuts for nutrition when food is not working for me. You'll have to force yourself to experiment to find your friendly foods. You'll stop loosing if you don't get enough calories

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
If you don't start getting more calories or liquids in you will end up in the hospital. I couldn't stand the smell of protein drinks either so I would mix them in my magic bullet and put them in a cup with a lid so I wouldn't have to smell it. I would also time drinking my water, like taking a sip every 2 mins and before long I would have a bottle finished. I didn't use milk in my protein shakes, I used water at first and even mixed some crystal lite in with some of the flavors to make them taste better. I now will use light vanilla soy milk with my shake but only 2 ozs and add 2-4 ozs. of water. If you don't start following your plan you will get dehydrated and malnourished and I know you don't want a feeding tube. Eat some sf popsicles for variety. You can do this, you had this surgery to save your life and I know that you can drink and eat enough to get over this bump. Take care
