Ok I passed out! - New post ops pay attention!
Last night I was standing in line for a movie and I passed out. After many hours in the ER they determined that I wasn't properly hydrated and have not been getting enough food - at least the right food. I acknowledge that I have not been eating enough protein and way too much bread and carbs. About 45 minutes before I passed out I ate half of a soft pretzel which I knew didn't really sit well with me. (No more Auntie Annes ever!) This was terrifying to me and I am wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? I have definitely learned the value of keeping my protein and liquids up all the time, unfortunately I learned the hard way!

Hi, Michele,
As long as you learned the lesson and apply it, that's all that counts. Besides, bread and too many carbs are the devil (lol).

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer." Plutach. Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.

Welcome to post WLS life! LOL - I ended up in the ER at one year behind dehydration myself - my bowels had stopped moving and I was in SERIOUS pain. As for protein, my brilliant azz stopped drinking my daily protein shake and ended up with dizzy spells - this maintenance is NO JOKE!!!!
Make sure you commit to taking care of yourself from now on - unless you really like 'chillin' in the ER - lol!!!

Though I am rarely on BAF any longer, I am a BAF veteran and almost 6 years out from RNY. One of the MOST important messages I tell pre-ops and new-ops is worry more about staying hydrated early out then getting in 50 grams of protein.
I learned my lesson early out worried more about eating and neglected my water. I was rushed to the ER and was severly dehydrated.
If you think about it, people can go weeks without food, but withou****er in a matter of days, you will not survive.
Water does more than hydrate our bodies, it aids in the proper digestion of food...which in turns helps to have regular BMs....it helps to keep our skin moisturized and pretty. Another big plus of water is, it kills hunger cravings.
Please, please get in your water.
