Food suggestions @ 5 weeks out....
Ok, so I will be 5 wks out on Tuesday. What can I eat? Or what should I be able to eat?? I would love some suggestions!! Any idea when I can eat chicken pastry again or have a turkey sandwich or a sub or a burger?? LOL No, seriously...just some ideas...I'm becoming bored with the food choices and I wanted some new ones. Thank you!
at 5 weeks out, i would stick to the soft stuff. to add variety, flavor, and a little substance, maybe you can eat soups with suff in it....you know, like some cream of chicken soup or chili or other kinds of Chunky soup.
avoid breads & pastas. most people say avoid starches but at 5 weeks out i think i had grits& mashed potatoes.
of course you know to keep downing the fluids and get in your protein shakes.

The recovery diet for RNY and DS is almost about the same, softish foods. I ate tuna fish, greek yogurt, baked fish, soft chicken from out the crockpot (but be careful some don't tolerate chicken well), sauteed shrimp, scallops, chicken nuggets, deli meat, lots of cheese, ricotta fluff (ricotta cheese blended up w a lil milk and sf pudding mix), egg salad, scrambled eggs, devilled eggs (yea I was on a egg kick). salmon cakes, carb smart ice cream bars, hmmmm off the top of my head thats all I can think of. A lot of the other stuff I ate wouldn't be helpful to you.

I lived on refried beans, string cheese, tuna, oatmeal, cream of wheat, chili, stuff like that.
At 2 months I was cleared for chicken, fish and stuff. Bread fills me up quickly. If I do have a sandwich, I make it at home with one slice of bread, lean turkey or ham and cheese. I eat turkey burgers, usually no bread, all the time. I haven't had a sub sandwich, it's a waste of money right now. I'm six months out and I can still only eat 1 chicken leg, 1 turkey burger, 3/4-1c of refried beans, cereal, oatmeal and other soft foods. I have to watch any snacky foods because I never fill up on those. I can eat and eat and eat. Snack foods are the devil for a lazy ass like myself.
