THIS IS HOW YOU KNOW BAF IS DEAD.....
Nice photo, Angel!!! I should update mine :P
As far as BAF -- if I'm online I find myself (though I am certainly a newbie!) on the LapBand board because there are so few folks who actively post on this board with bands. But also since I am new -- many of the OT posts I didn't get. Not a problem, but I just couldn't comment on them. I lurk and check in every now and then :)

Hello :) I've been doing alright. I finally got my first real fill (I don't count the fill that happened when he had to re-attach my port) and its been a strugle. I can eat something one day, but not the next. I'm old hat at sliming and pb-ing now :P And I think the first bout of flustration has kicked in. I don't feel like the scale is moving like it used to, but sometimes I also just want to eat food. Stop somewhere because I'm hungry -- and eat. But thats a no-go, and at times its flustrating. I also started a new job .. so like has been more complicated than previously too :P But it will all work out and the pounds will drop eventually!

Well...FB definitely has many more interactive bell and whistles....easier to socialize over there. I also agree with ValueMe that it really, really is cliquish over here. I am one of those people that believe that all people have something to contribute and should be welcomed with open arms...regardless of how stupid their comments might sound at the time..or how self indulgent their picture post might seem. If its something on their mind...it obviously has importance to that person..that they feel the need to share. I applaud all who even take the time to post anything over here and personally hate it when I see one post that goes without a reply unless it is one that really does not call for one. Does not make sense to me to ignore folks....even to take the time to challenge their thinking or ask for clarification might be worth the effort. Its all about helping each other to grow IMO. We all should give something (no matter how insignificant it might seem) and we should all take something away.
Yes BAF has died. I am just waiting for the funeral. I do pop in from time to time. I used to spend all day while I was at work online. But things changed for me once I went out for my surgery and was at home. When I am at home I have other things going on and I am also talking to friends of FB so...BAF is to the wayside. I do try and check in with BAF at least once a day.
I have no problem with people reminiscing about what took place 5,7,or 3 years ago. Me and my long time friends do that in IRL. We look back on the good ol days. Its natural and to be expected. Is or was BAF cliquish. Um yeah... that is no secret and anyone who claims differently is lying or blind. LOL. I agree with RoRo on this one. You do have to get in where you fit in. When I first came on this site, I was intimidated by the cliques and didn't know if I was going to come back to the site. I personally didn't feel that I had the time to figure out the BAF dynamics, nor did I want to. But I am glad I did. I have met quite a few people IRL from the board that I have become really good friends with. For the people who do not like me on the board, or who didn't/don't welcome me on the board. Oh well for them. I really do not care. Like I said the people I want to talk to I do, via email, texting, or FB.

Hey gurl....
Haven't seen your lovely tiara in a while...lol. How are you doing? Are you happy so far with your results? Hope all is going well for you.
You know as far as the cliques go...I think...I am one to think so much about the underdog. You know the ones that don't have those social skills or courage to ever just jump right in. I just hate the thought of losing anyone because they did not feel welcome. I know....I carry my heart on my sleeve all the time but I am sure there are folks out there that fit the bill. Came to BAF...posted...did not feel welcome and did not return.
I know it all has to do with me working in human service for so long and doing volunteer service. Sometimes I talk to people and some of them are hanging on by their last strand of hope. Some people are very shy and it takes a while to get them to open up.
Maybe if they had a board for folks with that type of mindset...I would not feel so bad. HOWEVER, in light of Kim B's post yesterday..for me personally, I will just go with the flow....dig my heels in, scoot my arse on down in a comfortable spot and hang out a while on BAF...lol.
Anywho...I just wanted to say Hi...I always enjoy reading your posts...very insightful.

Hi MD. I am doing as well as can be expected. A little rough going in the beginning but you know how it can be. I am adjusting.
I think its a good personality trait to care about others. I do try and be welcoming to all new ones when I can. Especially since it wasn't too long ago I was new to the board. And in some people's minds still new. That's all I can do for my part.

I am a newbie too in a sense. More so new to BAF. I used to check the boards when I FIRST set up an account but I never replied to anything because I thought it was more like the lounge where people came to kick their hills up and relax. I would go to the boards like Lap Band, Realize Band of Insurance questions because I had true honest questions regarding the surgery. I did not want to be a wet blanket with my actual questions regarding surgery and the sorts in BAF. But there are some things you really want to know from the African American perspective regarding WLS, I pose the question and just HOPE it gets answered LOL.
I do see fellow newbies pose great questions directly related to weight loss surgery many times that are viewed a lot but never answered but if a joke or a rant is posted there are many posts. For the most part and in MY opinion it does seem like a who you know/who you are with will get your question acknowledged situation. HOWEVER, if I am really adamant about the question I will send a message to specific "VETS" unsolicited and randomly. And many times I have had VETS send me a reply to a questions I may have posted directly and offer to be of assistance.
So the VETS and the cliques are not necessarily a bad thing. I suppose they have been there, done that as far as the WLS and that jazz goes...the questions may seem redundant at times; so we have to dig through the older posts to find answers. BAF is the lounge to take off the daily stress and mingle with like minded people. Newbies, just be persistent and not be afraid to ask questions directly. Hell, send me a friend's request and we can get up a list of questions we want to know and do our research through the boards to get an answer!
