the scale - a little long

I want to tell myself I am not scale obsessed.  In the past, before WLS, when I was dieting I would weigh myself once a week and was generally okay with it.  Now, I tend to weigh myself twice a week.  I've been in what feels like a mini- stall for about the last 2 weeks.  I'm not freaking because I know I'm losing inches.  But I find myself weighing myself like 3 -4 times a week.  I have this digital scale I spent about $35 on abut 7 months ago and the best I can say is that I'm pretty sure its accurate within 5 pounds.  What weight I get depends on whether I step on the scale first with my right or left.  I tend to weigh myself 3 times on this digital scale and take the middle weight because its hard to get the damn scale to say the same thing.  I really don't want to invest in a new scale right now - I heard most digital scales do the same thing.

I'm within 7 pounds of the century mark and I want to be there yesterday.  A few folks on the main board are dealing with major scale obession and others advised them to just put the scale away - of course  thats not happening till I hit this century mark and then of course - my next really big goal is onderland - but as my personal goal is 180 (I have a med/large build and am 5'10.5") onederland is 20 pounds from goal.

I'm 3 months out and have lost about 50 pounds post-op and 40 pounds pre-op.

How often do you weigh and has anyone given the scale up.  I'm kinda scared to do this because the only time I never weigh is when I'm gaining weight and don't really want to know.

Good Morning Rhonda,

I have noticed when I do not weigh, I become out of control. In the last couple of weeks, I have resumed being a scale addict.  I weigh myself once in the morning and again in the evening.  If I weigh less in the evening than I did that morning, I am always so thrilled  because I know then I have lost weight for the day.  If  the scale goes in the other direction, I am disappointed but I make every effort to watch every little thing that I eat for the next couple of day.  So, I will remain a scale addict because I always lose or at least maintain when I do this.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Hi, my name is Theresa and I'm a scale addict!

The first thing I do every morning is use the potty then hop on the scales.  It's my motivator for the day.  If I've lost then it gives me that extra kick to keep doing what I'm doing.  On the other hand, if I see a gain, it gives me a reality check to work harder.    I used to have some scales like yours that never gave me the same reading twice and it was driving me crazy so I went out and invested in a better scale.

I am 5 years out and still weigh daily. I bounce up a few pounds and back down here and there, but have not had an outrageous gain yet.

Chile please.  you ain't even close to being a scale demon.  I weigh EVERYDAY - have since WLS pretty much and even though I am ONLY 3 weeks out from a TT and BL and am swollen - I STILL WEIGH every-damn-day!!!!!

If I didn't - I am CERTAIN I would blow back up - so I don't see it as a bad thing.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Giving up the scale got me where I am, obese.  When I weighed every day I was just a little overweight.

I stopped weighing and crept from 145 to 285 over the years.  I will neve give up the scale.  Wish I had a travel scale too.  Twice a week I check fat% and water % but every single day I weigh.
