weightloss and sagging skin
All $.02 cents is welcomed!!! now i will neva try to be pam anderson...but i have heard conflicting stories..mind u from non black women. so considering the last time i checked i was still black (although my twins question that at times) i figured i would ask those more like me. i dont discount the others...but their skin is not like mine. so by all means...educate a sista please!!! and yes, i am ready..i put it off for 4 years to get ready. so trust and believe my spanx aint going anywhere!!!!
I would have to agree with the rest of the gang....120 lbs??? You are going to have some saggy skin. For me I have lost right at 100 lbs and I have been over weight my entire life. Unless I get naked you wouldn't know I have saggy skin. I don't think saggy skin should be a deal breaker on either surgery. You want to make sure you make a decision that is going to be the most successful for you.
Before surgery I had angel wings. I have been overweight for over 10 years min. I agree it depends of the factors stated. I too was stuck on getting the LAP however my health factors and need to get some resistance on a constant made the choice for me. I was afraid to have surgery for this reason (elephant skin). However its my skin and I can work with any other part for now except my face. So far my facial skin is adjusting to my loss whereas other parts are getting flabby (still have over 100 to go please pray for me
). hope this was helpful.

I have been obese my ENTIRE life. I have lost over 200 lbs and I use to work out everyday. I have sagging skin everywhere, even private places. I cant run and jump and all that anymore but I still do crunches and freeweight and band and balls. I do this because when I finally do have PS. I want to look as good naked then as I look clothed now.
I had RNY and I knew pre-op that I would have alot of sagging skin and tried to really prepare myself mentally for it. However, the sagging skin did not play one part in my decision to have RNY. I have an addicition to food...not had....have. I needed something that would help me get some type of control over that addiction. This works for me.....Do what you think will work for you

I have good genetics, good skin and significantly few stretch marks (belly only from pregnancy). Still, areas with zero stretch marks are saggy.
I work out and dilligently treat my skin daily to improve the appearence. It is shrinking and firming some what but I'm not expecting a miricle (although I still pray for one).
Fast or slow, there will be some skin issues. Choose your wls procedure based on other factors. None are better for the skin.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Thanks ladies!!! all your input has been valuable to me. sagging skin wont deter my efforts to lose weight..thats a must. but for what ever reason, an old co worker who had the surgery came to mind. she would always complained about the sagging skin. how she couldnt look at herself without clothes when she was big..and how she still cant stand the sight now that she was thin. all due to the sagging skin. i just dont want to be her.
i know why i am doing it..blood sugar has risen to over 100 since last year..knees kills me all the time...swelling in my left leg (edema). i am tired of basically having to roll on the couch to get up...hell naw. but one cant help to still have some vanity at times..and i know the sagging skin issue will be mines.
again, thanks so much for all the input. it has given me so much to think about...

Hey BossLady !
I believe that everyone has truly gave you great advice. Just wanted to chime in because I am a bandster and thought much like you did prior to surgery.
I thought the slower the weightloss, the less likely that I would have saggy skin. And boy was I wrong.......It has taken me just under three years to get to my century mark. Im delighted to have finally hit this accomplshment and I want to lose another 60 lbs and be at my personal goal by next June when my daughter graduates from high school. So slow and steady is my aim as well.
Yet I still have saggy skin........its not extreme due to the fact that Im solid and somewhat muscular. At my highest weight, people thought I was a good 40 lbs less than what I was and its the same thing now which is a plus.
But I have sagging skin none the less. I have a variety of good full body girdles, not soo much for everyday use cause I can wear a pair of nice form fitting jeans and command a whole lot of attention, but for special occassions I like to be able to suck it in and up when needed and feel secure.
My skin issues dont compare to how great I feel when I step into a room and feel just as beautiful as any other healthy, shapely sexy woman. Girlfriend it dont get no better. I used to avoid cameras and picture taking, now I love being front and center.
I wouldnt let the saggy skin determine the surgery that you have. Base it moreso on your vices when it comes to the kinds of food you love and cant seem to control and thats what is gonna bring you successful, long term sustained weightloss.
Best wishes to you !
