Now I know why I was so FAT!

I had a rude awakening today. Husband and I went out for an early dinner today to one of our favorite places-Red Lobster. Well as I was looking over the nutritional fact sheet, I could not believe the fat content in some of my favorite foods.

Hubby went on to order his food. I said I know your not going order that are you? He said why? I said look at the fat in the food over 93 grams. He said yes I am!  I ordered a kid size crab leg. He ordered the Admirals Feast (now y'all it looked good I'm not going to front).

But as we where sitting talking waiting on our food to come. It hit me! This is why I was so faatttt! Not the portion of foods I ate but the food I ate! The amount of fat in the meals I ate would have killed me if I did not stop!

I know this WLS thing is not easy as most people think. But GOD I think HIM for it everyday. And I wont-I can't go back! It is not easy but well worth it!

So true,  and everytime I went to Red Lobster I was the Admiral and I feasted my ass off.  That is all I would order.

I felt the same way last week when I was tempted by one of the single serving Ben and Jerry's that the grocery store sells now.  I was all prepared to get it and then I looked at the nutrition info.  That stuff was 290 calories and it was so super small (1/4th of a pint--1 serving).  I have been known to kill 2 pints of Ben & Jerry's in one day before (bad, I know, but don't act like I'm the only one).  Like you, I was like "Damn, know I know why I was so fat." 

I'm surprised I wasn't even fatter.

  Don't EVER look up the nutritional facts at Burger King then..... LOL!!!!  I was SHOCKED at the things I discovered when I researched fast food - OMG - we are BREEDING a nation of fat ass mofos!!!! 

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I think thats how alot of us got caught up.......I am glad that now I am more aware of what I am eating and that I frequently check food labels when I shop now.

Girl, I feel what you are saying.  I have switched to the wood fire grill menu at Red Lobster.  I usually order grilled shrimp and scallops or grilled lobster tail and shrimp and I tell them to hold that bed of rice and only put broccoli on the plate.  I feel so much better about what I am ordering when I eat out now.

Oh, and NO biscuits while I wait for my food!

Sssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhh ... Don't mention those cheesy biscuits...those are dirty words. Those dayum waiters used to hate to see me coming...cause they knew they would have to make about 2-3 trips for those death traps for me. Sit there eat a whole basket by my dayum self with a SALAD! Ain't that some crazy mess.

I know what you mean. And to make matters worse its not even fast food or resturants I am dealing with...its the home cooking.

Why so many typically West Indian food gotta be so bad for you. THATS how I got fat. Stew peas made with pigs tail..fat still on, rum cake, carrot cake, fried fish and fried dumplings or festival, ackee and saltfish or kallalou (neither of these are too bad) but they must go with bami, breadfruit, fried dumplings, and fritters, oxtail with rice and peas. Jeeze...its a wonder my heart never stopped and I was "healthy."

In a world full of cheerios be a fruit loop!

Being west indian I so feel you.  All of those foods you mentioned I know those are the reasons why I got fat!  Especially the oxtails and rice and peas...lol.

Gurl...I will still throw down on some oxtails. I just eat the lean part off of two or three and eat a little of the vegetables....must skip the rice and peas. Whenever I am in Philly or NYC...I have to stop at the Golden Crust or I just don't feel right.    My girls and I will share a large meal...and its plenty....usually have a little rice and peas left over.
