Having a hard time with clothes...

OK, I am 12 weeks post op and the weight is coming off fast. The clothes that were extremely tight a couple of weeks ago, now have to be pinned up. So my family, co-workers and friends are saying its time for me to buy clothes.

I went looking for just some basic black slacks last night and almost starting crying because I don't know what to buy. One size is just right and the smaller size is too loose! If I buy them so that they fit now, they will not fit anymore in a couple of weeks, If I buy them too tight now, that will leave me with my current situation-nothing to wear.

I am sooooo happy the weight is coming off, but fashion is my life (I publish a fashion magazine) and my clothes are looking sloppy on me.

HELP!

1. Salvation Army
2. Goodwill

These two stores are my BEST friends as the weight comes off. I have bargained shopped for new stuff that is ULTRA cheap....that's the only way I can buy it.

Well, congrats on the weight loss!!!!

I shop goodwill, salvation army. But mostly I do the cheap stores; Rainbow Shop, Marshalls, JC Penny and any store that has a sales rack. My clothes have safety pins everywhere!

I have been shopping online for clearance-priced items my current size and the next size down.  Mentally, I have about $15-20 price limit depending on what it is.

I did buy a cute little black dress at Penney's the other day that broke the rules, but you need something to wear to a dressy affair or out to dinner at finer eateries.

I also took my best dress slacks and dress crops to be altered.  These were pieces that I could not just simply replace and that I paid a lot of money for.  It was worth it to me to just have them altered.  They are my part of my basic wardrobe (for now).  After I lose about 15-20 more lbs, I will probably have to let it go!  LOL.

Also, Penney's had cute tops on sale for $19.99 plus I had a 15% off coupon.  I got about 5 tops for less than $100.

When I was losing faster, I had stuff with tags on it that I missed out on wearing because the weight was coming off so fast.  Like someone mentioned earlier, try Goodwill or the Salvation Army.  Also, research consignment shops that have plus-size clothing.  Try EBay too for certain brands that you know will fit.

congratulations gurl!

there's a clothing exchange on OH, it's not a forum exactly but it's a spot where members list what they have in some cases brand new with tags and never got to wear.  it's no or low cost - you email the poster with your info and pay for shipping.    I couldn't keep up with that so i just went to walmart and bought 3 outfits of the size i was about to be, wore em to def till i got to the next size and did the same thing - might be a little challenging being a fashionista if you only gone be a size (   ) for 2 weeks :))

Only buy a few pieces at a time and purchase separates that you can mix and match to create different outfits.  Slacks with an elastic waist were a staple in my wardorbe when I was losing.  Pairthem with a relaxed fit top like this one and you can wear them for several sizes down and still look nice.
