New Post-op Tip of The Day
Today's tip is about taking medication. In the past, if you got a headache or a sprained ankle you reached for the ibuprofen or maybe something stronger. Now that your insides are different, you have to treat your pain differently. We should not be taking NSAIDS or any anti-inflammatory medication. We are prone to getting ulcers and due to having a pouch and no longer having a stomach with acid it very difficult for us to break these medications down. Obviously you should check with your doctor first, but most doctors suggest tylenol for pain or fever and if you have a chronic illness then another prescription will have to be approved. All medications can be hard on our pouch and our liver because it must be passed through our liver. We are given a second chance, so please take precaution before adding anything harmful to your body.
