I am dazed and confused. There are about 50 million list of things I need to buy to have on hand at the hospital and at the house for immediately following surgery.  But I am finding that none of these lists are made by patients who have actually been there done that... So I am coming to you guys. Help a sista out!!! What did you buy that was completely worthless and what did you buy (or keep on hand) that made the difference? I know to get a bathrobe cause I don't want those Doctors tryin to get a peeky-peek at my treats.
One love,

@ my treats - did you forget that you will unconscious and spread out on a table for a couple hours for the surgery?  Baby - they will see all they WANT to see - don't even fret!!!!

That bathrobe is for if you get chilly in the hospital!  Also - warm slip on sandals.

Take a good book - you MIGHT want to read.  Chapstick.  Face wipes - you won't feel like getting up to wash your mug, but those facial wipes help a lot.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Good call on the chapstick  and sandals putting it on the list. I am gonna take my laptop so I can get on the site and ***** and complain about the pain...

I second the chapstick! Lips were dry as hell in the hospital. I didn't read anything or use my laptop or Ipod. I brought the Ipod in case the hospital was noisy and drown it out at night but I was pleasantly surprised it was quiet. I did bring toiletries, cell phone charger, and most importantly the list of numbers for my husband to call and let them know I was ok. Oh and a lil firm pillow to hold against my stomach for the ride home, bring that!

At home I was on liquids and soft foods for a while. I had sf popsicles, greek yogurt, 3 differnt tubs of protien shakes and about 10 samples, cottage cheese, sf pudding, soups, and eggs.

I didn't bring any pjs or robe. I stayed in the hospital gown all 4 days I was there.

Good luck on your surgery!

having a recliner helped  because getting out of bed that first week was rough slept in the recliner the first week......if you dont have a recliner get a few pillows so you can sleep in a semi-upright position.  sugar-free popsicles were a big help,......a blender/bullet blender for the puree stage......tupperware  cause you will have tons of leftovers after surgery

Don't have a recliner but I have about fifty-leven pillows on my bed so I should be okay. there Magic bullet- check (although I still can see get my head aroung what I am gonna put in there and actually want to eat***I have mad texture issues***) the SF popsicles are they like the twin pops or the freeze pops in the plastic thingy.

You Ladies are a great help!!! I appreciate the help. This prep is like having ur first baby. except you don't get the advice from Momma, know what  I mean.
