Mind Bending Monday - The lost art of being well dressed...

Ayy yo,

Have we lost our way a little here folks?  There was a time when we as a people actually tried to look our best and didn't need a bunch of fake-azz designer labels to do so.  We ate in restaurants and even shopped for more clothes wearing our Sunday best.  I know it's hard to believe but there was actually a time when we dressed nice without the help of FUBU, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, or even Liz Claiborne.

Has the art of dressing up to go out for a good time been killed by all of today's hot and quick designer label fashions?   And if so, will it ever be revived again?  Do women want a man that's clean-shaven and dressed in a suit or a do they want a man who always rocks a pair of jeans and a throwback jersey?  Do men prefer a woman who wears a nice business suit or a woman who is always in a pair of jeans and a tight fitting low-cut blouse?

What say you, BAF

Ooops.  Wrong sign on previously.  LOL

Daps, Double A.

I love a woman who is equally comfy in a business suit as she is in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt as she is in an evening gown.

Good question, though.

Just my .02.

Daps, D.

Say the two of you are about to go out and she knows that the place you're taking her to requires that you as a man wear a jacket and the restaurant expects a "lady" to look a certain way.

When you get to her place to pick her up and she she's wearing a pair of tight fitting jeans, a white tee, and a pair of pumps, would you ask her to change?  Why or Why not?

I would have told her beforehand the dress requirements, if any, for the restaraunt.   If it was a place that required formal dress, I picked her up and she was in a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and pumps, yeah, I'd remind her of the dress code.   Especially if I had told her previously.

I think it depends on the situation. But most certainly there has to be versatility...I would hate to be invited to a semi-formal affair and have my husband have to try to figure out what to wear. It should already be there. But now a man in a pair of nice fitting jeans and a t-shirt has NEVER hurt my eyes!

Likewise I think I can do that...working in an office setting, by day I am dressed professionally...business casual. We are a bit more relaxed during the summer but I don't relax that much...they (the higher ups) are watching you no matter what time a year it is.  But come 5 pm....Im either in jeans and a tee or sweats and tee.

For me, it's a turn on when I see a man who looks good in his Tim's and jeans and can switch it up and look equally scrumptious in some slacks and a blazer.

But taking it to another level, I can't stand it for women to walk around with a scarf on their heads.  The receptionist at my job constantly wears a scarf at the front desk.  My question is, if coming to work isn't important enough for you to comb that wrap down what place is?  I mean really what are you saving the hairdo for?

When he gets to your place to pick you up and he's wearing a pair of designer carpenter jeans, an oversized State Property shirt, and a pair of brown of Timberlands, would you ask him to change?  Why or Why not?
