WLS=FUNKY ARMPITS??!!! WTF?!
Okay, is this a side effect of WLS? Deodorant is barely working, so much that I carry it around with me 24/7. Lord knows, don't let me wear anything poly-blend cause have mercy!!!
I NEVER used to have a problem with funky armpits until about 5 months post-op. I thought I may have read something up here when I was pre-op but I just dismissed it. Oh how I wish I would have read up on it! Why in the world is this happening?!

Hi,
I don't know if the body odor from armpits is a DIRECT result of the surgery or not; I have not had an issue with that and I am 8 months post-op. However, there have been changes with your hormones and glands. Additionally, doctors recommend that everyone (WLS or not) change anti-perspirants on a regular basis because in a weird way our bodies become immune to them. I change my deodorants (just like I do my soap for baths) around every 4 months or so; after about 5 months it seems that I get sweaty easier, etc, but really, its just time to change products. Try using baby powder under your armpits, and also changing the brand of deodorant and soap that you use. You should notice an almost immediate difference.

I definitely had this problem! The product I was told about that helped me the most was Arm & Hammer deodorant, it was the first thing that gave me some peace! Cause boy oh boy did I Stink! I would also suggest Baking Soda soaps and powder, its annoying in the beginning but the benefits are worth it!
Good Luck,
Layla
