How much work did you think this journey would be?

Vets, newbies and pre ops -

Lemme ask you about your expectations vs. your reality.  What did you THINK you were getting yourself into when you decided to pursue WLS?  What have you discovered that SHOULD have made you think twice?  Any regrets?  Anybody wish they could go back and do it over?????

*I* am finding that the work is SERIOUS work.  Never did I envision myself having one let alone TWO plastic surgergies to deal with the sagging skin (and yes, newbies, I worked out like a FOOL), and have to watch my intake so much and STILL manage to fall off the wagon more than just now and again.

HOWEVER - I STILL haven't gone past the 200lb mark (well, I am there now, but I am swollen like crazy from surgery - only 205 watch me get back down yall) and I have maintained that without serious heart-wrenching effort.

I AM  surprised at how much I STILL focus on everything, I KEEP thinking that ONE day I will not have to think about eating, exercising, water, vitamins, etc - that I will just LIVE..... but then I realize - this IS the life I chose!!!

So - your thoughts?????

Hi Trina,

I went into it hoping for the assistance that I needed to lose the weight.  Then, I became complacent and just let the band do the work and now my arse is stuck.  I would have WLS again in a heartbeat.  I am still trying (at times) to lose these last 25 pounds.  I do wish that I had put more "work" into it during the infamous honeymoon phase and I possibly could be at or closer to my goal than what I am. After all that being said...I am grateful for this journey and as long as keep recommitting and not gain too much, I hopefully one day will get to my personal goal.

Hi Ladies, yes, i know exactly what you mean.  I myself have lost a little over 100 lbs and i am so disgusted with the sagging skin.   AT my age of 65....my skin did not bounc e back the way it did when I was younger. Dont get me wrong,  I look good in my clothes but its when I choose to remove them for whomever, that I feel somewhat ashamed.   It seems that its the late 40 to the late 50 year olds that are attracted to me, and I think i want to try it.  lol..lol..lol.    I will be schedualing a TT and arm lift for sometime later in september.   Then later on for a inner thigh lift.   Just worry about the scares.    How about you ladies,   can you stand the scares,  and does your mate mind them so much.

Congrats Mack Momma on your accomplishments thus far.   You da woman!!

Hey B!!!  I gotta tip my hat to you - being courageous enough to turn your life around later in life is amazing - so many are afraid of any change after a certain point.

Good luck on your TT and arm lift - if you haven't already, PLEASE visit the plastic surgery board on here- LOTS of great info!!

Expectation vs Reality

Post op WLS is EXPENSIVE as a mug!!!!

I had to replace every article of clothing in my wardrobe, even down to shoes and underwear.  Everything.  I have rings that I don't wear anymore because I didn't want to pay to have them re-sized.

I thought that since I would have a tiny little stomach, my grocery bill would be super small.  Truth is, high quality protein costs a lot more money than Mac & Cheese.  The farther out you get, the more you can eat, so that grocery bill will inch up.
And don't get me started talking about the supplements!  I get an attitude every time I have to pay for that iron prescription.  I've even been thinking about letting my PCP do my WLS lab work so I can get rid of at least one insurance deductable.

BUT, I would still have WLS all aver again.  I'm worth it.
