Belt Promotion Report
Well, I wont know my results until 2-3 weeks. but heres what happened: The first question i was asked was the rules of the Dojo (school). then I was asked History of Karate (empty hand) do (way), history and knowledge of Masters of Senseis. I had to explain theories and applications.
Next I had to Demonstrate my knowledge by application of coming from 1 stance to another without moving my feet , Ippon kumite 1-8 you can "you tube" ippon kumite if you want to see what it looks like (basic self defense forms)=ippon kumite. my stances. as well as the kata I competed with at the competition in late April, I had to do it in 4 directions. I must tell you that was very physical. and lastly I had to spar for 5 minutes luckily they gave me a breather that 5 minutes felt like eternity. one thing that i have learned about my fighting style is I am too nice.
When my classmate gave me a blitz he never let up or held back he kept drilling me with a flurry of strikes. when i had the opportunity to give a Blitz and the table turned in my favor i just ****ed back just to let him know im there i did NOT unleash. the lesson i learned is never hold back because it could cost me. I must say I got my blows in too.
overall, i think i have earned my yellow belt next stop is acquiring my blue belt.
I'll scan my certificate if Master young find that i have fulfilled the requirements for promotion of yellow belt rank.
