New Post-op Tip of The Day
Today's tip is about how you make your protein shakes. Some people make their shakes with milk but don't add the additional calories to it when they log all of their food for the day. Sometimes when you hit a stall it could be because of the added milk in your protein drink or if it's because you need to add calories then adding milk is a good thing.
Many wls patients are lactose intolerant, so I suggest using soy milk or other milk that is lactose free. I use light vanilla soy milk and really like it. I've read where others really like Hood Calorie Countdown Milk, which is lactose free. When I make a shake, I only use 2 ozs. of milk and the rest of the liquid is water. I'm at the time of my weight loss where my weight fluctuates from day to day and I'm maintaining but truthfully I would like to lose 10 more pounds.
You can add fruit, if your program allows and sf pudding and syrups to add flavor to your protein shakes. Just be sure to add all of the calories together so that you know exactly what you're taking in. Just make sure that you're getting your protein in.

As always, yet another good tip.
I'd just like to add that for those who can't do soy or dairy, there are milks from rice and almonds right next to the soy in the grocery aisle. Watch the carb count though. I still haven't found a low fat and low carb version of each.
Neenaj, I hope you are feeling better today.
