Hey BAF;

Last week I had a kick rock's kind of week....! I was eating and doing I had no business doing. Saturday I bought my 5, 10 hand weights. I found a pair of roller skates and I went roller skating (not roller blading).  But on Monday I got a call from a friend of friend, sisters~cousin~nephew kind of thing. He said I heard you were looking for a treadmill. Well I have one and you can have it for 100. I said ok, got up and hubby and I drove across town.

Well BAF this is NICE treadmill, hardly use. It was a glorified clothes rack. Husband tested it, out we paid him and bought it home. I LOVE it!......... I have walked this thing out. Walked everyday for 30 minutes last night I forget I was walking and walked for a 1 hour!

BAF-THANK YOU!

Now new issue! Ugh, I know it's always something. How do you vets handle dining out? My friends and family are dining out fools. Birthdays we go out, promotion~dinner out, new sofa~dinner out, payday...you got it....dinner out! I go but I only drink or if I eat it is usually a baked potato plain or a cup of soup. Any tips? ( I know it's easy to stay home but sometimes I have to go)

I didn't start eating out until I was about 6 mos out and I ate off of someone else plate because it was only a spoonful here & there..............I eat out a little more now 1-2 times a month and I will only order a kids meal because after 3 1/2 years I still can't eat a whole kids meal at one sitting I always ask for a carry out container

Lil' Booty;

Thanks for the advice. I don't eat off others plate (I'm a germ-a-phob). I thought the bake potato would be safe. But I need to start staying my saggy butt home for real!

Congrats on your newfound love for working out your body Nothing like the feeling of tone muscles and flexibility...you can use that in MANY ways

Eating out can be tricky but I always opt to order good ole faithfuls...chili, Grilled chicken salad (many places you can get a 1/2 salad)...or appetizers such as Quesadias with chicken or beef or crab cakes but be sure to ask them to broil them NOT fry them   Remember that food=fuel...you don't need it to socialize! IF I'm not hungry when I go out with friends I just don't order or eat anything you can still enjoy the company and chit chat without grubbing down.

Congrats to you!  It's so hard to get back on track.

As for eating out, I never stopped going.  It's one of my favorite pastimes for socializing.  I have become the leftover queen.  I order healthy stuff (mostly chicken)  and end up bringing well over half of it home.  My son usually gets to it before I do, so I don't even enjoy it.  I will also share a meal with family or friends.  Everyone knows I've had surgery so it's cool.

Almost 7 years later I STILL eat out. I never did thr kids menu  (most of their selection are pretty much unhealty) OR the restaurant card thing I just gracefully carried my leftovers home to eat later.

So Blessed!

I either order an appetizer or buy a regular sized meal and box the leftovers to take home.

Side salad w/ meat on top
Grilled chicken
Steak
BBQ, unless the sauce is sweet
Seafood
Italian - meatballs, soup, pizza toppings
Mexican  - chili, fillings from taco or burrito, menudo
Indian - dal soup, chicken or shrimp tandoori, beef or chicken curry
Soul Food - meat and veggies
Greek - gyro fillings, moussaka, shish kebabs

Lots of good advice given already Adrienne! I just wanted to congratulate you for moving forward...taking action on issues you knew needed attention. Gone with yo bad self...is all I can say about the skating. I want to try skating again too....but the last time I tried I skinned by knees pretty bad...not to mention embarrassing the hell out of myself. Kudos....keep it up!
