Mind Bending Monday - A friend of mine had THAT, and....

Yes, yes, yes!!!  Here is the real issue.  If you were to ask the same person who made this declaration so confidently, the actually details i.e. how was this persons eating behavior?  Sounds like a fistula to me ( you can just see the face contort, fistula?) did they check with their surgeon?  Was this person handled by a quality surgeon?  How long ago had they had surgery?  What type of sugery did they have..... specifically?  (Most the time they don't know which one.  There all the same to them) They never know the details.  They just heard about somebody from somebody's sisters, brothers, auntie's, dog groomers mother's, nail girl that happen who the hell knows when.  Makes me !

Bad enough when comes from a person who doesn't know anything, but from another WLS patient??!!!  I went to a graduation party the other day.  Most of the people there, I did not know.  One woman had VGS 15 months ago and had the audacity to tell me (standing right in front of me) that Lapband doesn't work!  *** ya may want to look at me alittle harder boo)!  Then she said, well your an exception.  Really?  I'll notify the millions of others that have had success with lapband surgery that they are failures!!  Then the stupid heffa said, plus I don't want anything "foreign" in my body. (and that's why she don't get none)  I quickly pointed out that everyone has something foreign in there body's.  She snapped...not me.  I said "really, do you have fillings in your teeth or are they fake"?      People make me want to slap them on the regular!!

I actually have made that comment myself...and Im not a "stupid heffa"...I know personally that the lapband wouldnt work for me and through my research choose RNY. I had ppl in the hospital that had lapband and made all kinds of rude comments regarding RNY and why I choose that. I feel everyone should choose what WLS will work for them on a personal level and not follow what the norm is doing. Oh and I wouldn't compare getting a filling in a tooth to having lapband....but thats my 2cents.

You are absolutely correct.  Having a tooth filled and a lapband are different and yes, I have known the battle between surgeries rages on and really, that was my point.  Her lack of knowledge was astounding, yet she toughted herself a "medical professional".  I found issue with this woman (and anyone else who makes such ridiculous comments)  because of the degree of ignorance she had regarding any other type of surgery.  I have never told anyone that the surgery choice they made was either good or bad.  It is so personal.   For me, having a RNY was not an option but it was my first choice.  Lapband worked.  It's not for everyone, but for me it worked.  No one can stand in the shoes of you or I and make that choice for us.  

Many female WLS patients end up having foreign material inside of us whether it was orginally planned or not.  Many of us need a breast lift with implants to regain the volume and shape we had prior to loosing so much weight.  Again not everyone, but many choose to have this proceedure when it's all said and done.  Very personal choices, I agree.  Your two cents was much appreciated!

As Hugga said this is the exact reason I didnt hardly tell ANY of my family members (outside of those 4 that helped me during my recovery). I dont fell I owe anyone an explanation as to why I had surgery nor do I want to hear what your best friend's aunts sisters daughters hubby encountered when he had surgery. I see ppl in my daily interactions that will say oh you lost alot of weight how did you do it and my reply is "I am on a high protein, low carb no sugar diet".

@ AA you handled the situation with much tact...good job! I would have really wanted to ask her what was her motivation for her comment...that would have come after I cut my eyes and said the long EXCUSE ME?
Everyone thinks they know what best for everyone else when ppl need to concentrate on getting their own houses in order.

Thanks for the love, Luv.  It was a struggle like I said, but I felt I had to do it that way.

Nope didn't tell no on don't have to worry about the **** from people that don't know what they are talking about.  I've over hear people talking about other's that have had this surgery in the same way.  That they took the easy way out we no better, forget them all.  It's our life and what we do with this tool is our busy.  I've know of one people that had the surgery and have put back on their weight maybe more.  Will I ever tell her anything negative about it it's her busy.  I'm sad for her but yes we know it a life change it up to us to do our thing. And other like your friend will help us on the right road. You do your thing and SHOW HER BETTER THAN YOU CAN TELL HER.
THAT'S MY SAYING AND I'M STICKING TO IT.

first i have learned to pick my battles  it depends  on how much joy i will let you still from me  before  i  let  you steal it with stupid  questions.  second  a pair  of lips  (i  was told  by akin good  man)  will say anything  i told  my husband   i was having  female  problems  i told other people(  depending  on their  level of intelligence,  and making  them feel  sorry for me  it was a special   surgery to cure  my diabetes  , blood pressure  ******g and other illness  my next  thing  since  you  volunteering  yourself  in   my   businesses you will get  cursed  out  real  good and so you   tell  my  mother   and she  will   be fussing  @me  and praying  for me @ the same time 

Every un informed jackjass thinks they know something about weight loss surgery and obesity in general.  even the average pcp spouts more bull **** than knowledge. 

I'm tired of being polite.  Now I just tell people they're views are steeped in ignorance, mis information and anecdotal stereo types.  What the hell does the mythical 'friend of a friend who gained the weight back' have to do with me?
