Not being mean here - but - how sucessful has your aunt been?

Lots of times I have heard those who haven't done as well as they could or should have try to bring down or bash 'newbies' because they are mad at themselves for not being all they could have been with their tool.

As for the SF drinks - I have been doing them forever - it's what helps guarantee I get my water in, there are sometimes plain water doesn't 'do' it for me and I need the flavoring.

Stick with the one who CUT you - not those trying to CUT you down......

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

She's been pretty successful but that is really besides the point everyone's journey is different. We are two different people who had surgery years apart from each other with two different surgeons. The problem is the things they think I am doing I am not doing. She thinks because she wasn't eating chicken 2 months post op that I shouldn't be. Well my pouch likes chicken. And its a good protein source. And its on my approved list of foods so I am not going to stop eating it just because she didn't at 2 months out. I told her when she gets a M.D. by her name then we can talk.

Now my disclamer here is I love hearing what works and didn't work for people who are further out than me. But its like everything in life you have to use what you can from people's advice and discard the rest. And ultimately like you said MM I have to go with the person who cuts me.

The few times I have encountered negative people, I don't even waste my time trying to explain.  I just smile and tell them I'm up for the struggle....I'm in it to win it.  Then I keep it moving.

I have ZERO patience for that stuff.

Kim, you're so positive and upbeat and I need to strive to be that wa; but see, I'm from Jersey and we'd rather cuss ya out and flip ya the bird even when we're dead wrong, let alone when we're right.

LOL...I just hate arguing and confrontations....especially with folks who clearly are not gonna budge on their way of thinking.  That's when my 'I don't give a shiot' attitude kicks in.

Yep.  A guy at my job came up to me and told me how great I look now that I lost weight.  He was congratulating me on doing it the healthy weight and not with that surgery.  More people need to get out there and exercise like I do and lunch and eat better like me. I just smiled and grinned.  Someone later told him that I had surgery and now he just rolls his eyes at me.  Everytime I see him, I laugh.  Who the eff is he to tell me what I'm doing is or isn't healthy.  It's my effin life.

My advice:  Wait until the time changes in October of this year and the first really dark evening throw a huge brick through his windshield.  Sure that has nothing to do with his attitude toward WLS but it would definitely make you feel better - well until the cops start asking questions about the incident.

You should have thanked her for mentioning the possibility of gaining all the weight back.  Her mentioning it put in your mind that if you are not careful, you can gain the weight back, so it should put you in the mind set of making sure that you are not one of those it happens to..

I think it should be something that everyone is told prior to them having surgery.  I cant tell you how many times I have seen on someone signature "XX number of pounds gone forever", to me, these are the folks that are really not facing reality, there are no guarantee that the pounds are gone forever and without work on their part, they very well can come back.

ps: I am not talking about anyone on this board, just speaking in general so  if anyone have that in their signature, keep it moving, don't take this as a personal hit.

Believe it or not, I think that in her own fugged up way thinking, she probably thought that she was helping by trying to say that very same thing or possibly hoped that what she was saying would have that same effect on me.  But in truth, 1. *****ally wants to hear that sh!t, 2. Say what ya mean and not leave meaning to be implied, 3. If ya don't know thoroughly about a subject and pretend to give expert advice, then don't get mad if someone challenges your credentials, 4.  *****ally want to hear that sh!t?

That is precisely why I didn't tell anyone, I can't stand the negativity.  I have enough doubts on my own without other people hating because that's what it is.  Second, that comment is ridiculous.  Anyone who looses weight but never learned portion control and a healthy way of eating is going to regain their weight regardless of how they lost it.  With this surgery there is no guarantee.  It's a tool to help you loose the weight, the rest is up to you.
That comment just kills me like there is a flaw in the system and we've been hoodwinked and bamboozled into believing otherwise.

When people get to offering their unsolicited advice I just feel like saying in my best Bernie Mack impression........Shut the f*ck up!
