All I know is that I have only used my credit card that is now having issues to make hotel reservations and car rentals. I received a call from my credit card company fraud protection division. Apparently, in the last few days someone has charged $200 worth of shoes from a store in New York...tried to purchase a meal and some other items. The card is STILL in my possession and I have not been to New York since March. WTF! Now I have to go through a long drawn out rigmarole to dispute the charges. If I say I am pissed that would be putting it politely.

Yeah, that happened to me once - somebody was charging gas on my card at a time in which I happened to be out of state and I had my card -- however - and hopefully this will be true for you - it wasn't a horrible hassle to get it off. I didn't notice it till I got that months bill but I disputed it right away and it was taken off. This was a visa card. My bank well no longer exists under the same name anymore but I hope it goes easy for you. Did they cancel that card and give you a new one?
Peace - you need it right now that kinda crap can ruin a day - don't let them get you twice -once on the theft and once on your peace of mind.

Thanks Rhonda,
I guess it could have been worse....let me just count my blessings. The card was cancelled and they are going to send me a new one plus paperwork to dispute. I hope its not a major ordeal and they can get it resolved for me quickly. I really appreciate your response...I won't let it ruin my day. ...heading for work now. Peace to you.

Someone did that to my American Express card a few months ago. The thing with American Express is there is no SET LIMIT, so I can only imagine how horrible it could have been compared to the $1,600 worth of fishing equipment someone tried to purchase. Thankfully, American Express caught it before it got any worse. That is one thing I LOVE LOVE about Discover they will call you anytime they notice anything outside of your normal spending habit.
Unfortunately, whenever you make any purchases over the internet and you don't have the latest virus protection this can happen.

That what I started to think Rhonda....that what calmed me down. They could have done some damage if things had gone unchecked. I am still perplexed about how it happened though. I do keep my virus software up to date. Its a benny with my job. Trying to figure it out to hopefully prevent it from happening again. I made several hotel reservations within the last couple of weeks...I had to give my credit info to a live person....just wondering if someone is running a scam.

Three times with two different banks my cards were canceled and reissued because their security was breached. I was lucky. Since the fraud unit called you the paperwork is probably just make it official. I worked fraud investigation about twenty years back and thats usually how it went. Hope they clear this up quickly.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
The same thing happened to me with me bank Visa/debit card. The card was never out of my possesion and someone charges $200 worth of gas at 2 different gas stations in New York(I live in Colorado). It was an easy process to get the money back. One thing that they suggested to me was to make sure my wireless internet connection at home was secure.
