Plastic Surgeon

KT and I had our consult with the plastic surgeon yesterday. He was very nice and made us feel very comfortable. He will do our tummy tuck first. He said that is considered reconstructive He will only do one procedure at a time. He wants to be sure we are happy with his work. My daughter will be 23 in august and Tri-care will drop her unless we convince them to extend her coverage, so we have to get everything she needs done as soon as possible. We are going to try and have it done at the same time just like our WLS.

i had plastics done ...... it is a wonderful thing but no joke!  I always say,
do the same thing that you did with gastric bypass surgery.
....... Do your Due Diligence ..... study, research!  Plastics aint
no joke. Make sure you know who's working on YOU!
Proceed with knowledge!

Thanks for the helpful words of advice.  If you don't mind sharing, what did you have done, what was your recovery time and are you pleased with the results? Our insurance company has a list of participating physicians, our PCP called several and they all wanted to see the money in hand. This Dr. said he accepts our insurance out of respect for the military. He feels it they could put their lives on the line for their country the least he can do in return is accept the insurance provide by the military.

I had a pannilectomy done (removal of pannus ... hanging skin) with muscle tightening.  The surgery itself wasn't that bad, no real pain cause you are numb and will be for quite some time.  I still have some numbness.

My problem began when infection set in.  I had so much drainage that my drain tubes had to stay in 5 weeks.  So because of the infection I was deathly ill for a little while.  Antibiotics were not working so I had to go back in hospital to have it cleaned up surgically.  Took about 3 months to recover from infection. So, I guess I'm saying pannilectomy wasn't bad ..... infection almost killed me.  I am pleased with my results and I would do it all over again.

You are blessed that your insurance will pay.  Your doctor sounds like his heart is in the right place, you just want to make sure his skills are up  to par also.  Can you talk to some of his patients to see if they are pleased with their results? How long has he been doing plastics? How many has he done?  Is he licensed/certified? ... etc.

You'll be fine just ask questions and get answers and enjoy this part of your journey. I'm sending up a prayer for you and daughter now.

Hey Mama Peaches,

I am so glad to hear that you had a positive consult and that you found a doc that will accept your insurance. Praying that everything continues to move along smoothly for you two.
