I am back at basics.  Starting over from when I first got my operations.  Liquids, soft foods and small portions.  Yes and I am exercising.  Tennis on a regular.  Biking on a regular and I am also working on my elliptical every other day.  Vitamins are on point too.

Hi Trina (sorry if it's spelled wrong),

I too eat a lot of ice..  I can't help it and was informed that it's because of my iron deficiency, it comes in a form called PICA...  Anyway, I STILL chew ice all day everyday and I am on a high dose of iron pills.  I take Vitron C.  I take two a day and still no difference in the ice chewing.

Now, I am certain you can't gain weight from it as it is water, however, I do find that I am full off the ice but treat it as a "snack"  yep, whatever works!  I sike myself into thinking I am snacking.

So, go see the doctor and see what he says.  It's so bad that I buy 10lb bags of ice, almost 2 times a week.  I know it drives everyone around me crazy, but I am working on it, as it is NOT good for your teeth...

Hope things work out for you...

I have had Pica all my life and am extremely anemic (like Ferritin less than 1 and all numbers at least 10 points lower than the lowest number on the of normal.  Iron pills have never worked for me.

I've been receiving iron IVs and have no cravings at all.  Some people don't absorb iron well and need the infusions in order to not be anemic.  I expect I'll be getting them off and on until I am out of my child bearing years.  It's annoying, but effective.  Ask your doctor.
