Is it too soon?

I have an appointment in July to talk with a surgeon about a tummy tuck. I will be 8months post op and i'm only 28lbs away from my goal weight. I'm not ready for the surgery at this time.I guess i just want to get a rough estimate on how much money it's gonna cost me.
Soooo your honest opinion, is it too soon to have the surgeon look at me for an estimate?
Am i rushing things?
How long did you wait before you looked into TT or any type of plastics?
My theory is that at this point my stomach is not going to change much from now to my goal weight. I have been lugging this thing around for 36years and i'm ready to file for a divorce or at least a legal seperation. Even after all my weight loss its still in the way of everything i do. It has gone down alot but, physically, it's still my worst enemy!!
I have always been big in the belly so I'm thinking it wont hurt to let him look at me
Give me your honest opinion and feedback... what's up !
Second - it's not to early to HAVE the conversation - but I think you should be more like 10-15lbs away from goal. And at least 1 year, if not 18months out.
Reason? your body is STILL changing - DRASTICALLY - you're not done with the honeymoon period so you might end up UNDER goal. PLUS you still need to kick in the exercise to continue to shape your body.
BUT - you should have the consult to wrap your head around what you want done, what result you can expect and how much you are looking at. I had my first consult at 2yrs out - 200lbs down and stable weight for 6mos.
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Thanks MM
you are right my body is still changing, i guess if nothing else i want to know how much cash this this process is gonna set me back. Can i work some overtime or am i gonna have to refinance the crib..lol...(that's a little drastic but you get the point)
I guess i never thought about the under goal point of view, i definitely dont want to do that!
I wish you the best on your surgery, cant wait to see the after pics!!!!
Hi Mstanya
Congrats on your weight loss
It's not too early to begin to check into getting a tt .. do your research just like you did for wls. Talk to dr's and patients to see who is good and who is not.
My wl surgeon wanted his patients to wait until they were 18 months out. I had my tt at a little over 2 years out (at his suggestion because my panni was huge). I was not yet at goal ..... still am not but the panni was causing me so many problems.
I understand what you mean by your stomach having been your worst enemy ..... that was me too. You will love the result after having it removed. In an ideal situation I would wait until I was at goal or at least within 10 lbs to have a tt because I would want the best results possible. You know the tightess/flatess stomach I could have after going through the surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be able to give you the best advice. Best wishes
Nothing is wrong with doing research. I did my own and ran into a crapload of info about the time frame and our healing bodies. Remember when you learned about ATP in nursing school? Apply that and catabolism and that equals the need for our body to maintain the growth of new cells. If it's out of whack, you're likely to have complications. Ummm...can we say Usher's wife? Dayum, her name escapes me.
I've met with three PS"
Doc #1 - told me to get skinny then come back..made no mention of wait time.
Doc #2 - told me to wait until my weight has stabilized for three months.
Doc #3 - told me to wait until my weight has stabilized for six months AND he told me that the he usually waits until one year after surgery.
I was like you, just wanted to get some info and get my plan ready. I have an underlying condition that will help me get approved so for now, the insurance is "SUPPOSE" to be paying for it. Holla at the folks on the Plastics Board (thanks Mack!) for more info.
Just had to say how great you look! The pic on your avatar does NOT do you justice.
