Your words were well said, brother Mike. I couldn't have said better myself.
In the past year, I, like plenty of others, have seen a drastic turn in terms of the sentiments shared on this board. I've seen divisions and outbursts (admittedly, and shamefully, I'd been part of a couple) that, to me, defeats the purpose and spirit of this board, which of all the others on OH is unique in at it appeals to a certain sensiblity: ours as a people.
When we first decided to try hosting a Meet and Greet here in NYC, the hope was to come together, meet each other (some for the first time, for there are tons of you I've never met face-to-face, for example), and have some fun. Those goals still exist, but in talking to Mike (pleasure to finally meet you, bro), I've come to realize that there is a need to re-establish the viability of this board. Maybe the M & G does it. Maybe it doesn't. But, its worth a try.
Having said that, as Mike said, yes, there is a chance of "drama" ensuing. That is the nature of gatherings of people in that not everyone is going to get along. However, YOU don't have to be part of it. I invite everyone to our city to meet others, share stories/experiences and, frankly, to have fun. This city offers so many things to do for those who have never been here; I urge you to take advantage while you're here.
To echo Mike's sentiments:
"WILL THERE BE DRAMA?
possibly.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE A PART OF IT?
NOT... AT... ALL!!!"

Just for you, we'll put a disclaimer: "Leave the daggone cameras at home...what happens at a Meet and Greet STAYS at a Meet and Greet".

I'm not worried about what happens at the M&G. I'm usually oblivious to the drama, I just hate taking pictures.
