A question for the women. Who were you tv/movie idols growing up?

I guess this is going to take it back old school. but I tended to idolize women who were independent , could fight & had brains, white, black or otherwise.  Here's some of the ones that I can think of:

Electrawoman -Electrawoman and Dynagirl

Wonderwoman ( how many times did I do her spin LOL)

ISIS (remember that show?)

Emma Peel from the Avengers

Christie Love- Get Christie Love

Cleopatra Jones- Cleopatra Jones & Cleopatra Jones & the Temple of Doom

Willona- Good Times

Bionic Woman

Oh and the black girl from josie and the ***** cats

As soon as I read your title I thought Wonderwoman and then I saw you put her also. I think I was all messed up in the head cause Marsha Brady comes to mind too.

Naw, I never did care for the bb much.   But, I was just going through hulu.com & saw they have clips of Another World. So that reminded me that my original BBW role models were on that soap, Felcia Gallant & Jackee Harree. They were both were the epitome of elegance, sass, brains beauty & they were both plus size back in the day.

Mallory (Justine Bateman) from Family Ties (with Michael J. Fox)

I used to think " man, if Mallory can get into college, anybody can". She was my college bound inspiration.

Oh Mahn!  Hands down, Jayne Kennedy! Her gorgeous, smooth creamed coffee skin....long legs...jet black hair.....in fact, I said when I have a daughter, her name would be Kennedi Jayne....however, my husby wanted to add his mom's name (she is deceased) so my daughter has only the Kennedi.....but I still love Kennedi Jayne and Jayne Kennedy!

huh...growing up in the '70's I remember when the "blaxsploitation" movies came out.  If there were black folks in it - we saw it....Superfly, Get Christy Love, Cornbread Earl and Me, Cotton Comes to Harlem....whatever.   [find an old copy of that on DVD and rent some of those old fliks- watching them  today its kinda hilarious]  I grew up watching Good Times but even as a little kid I thought it wasn't realistic and I thought JJ was dumb- but I thought the little brother was kinda cute...I still can sing the title song..."not gettin' hassled/not gettin hustled/ keeping your head above water"...Back in the days when the bigger the natural, the cuter the guy...back when Michael Jackson actually was cute...and Billy Dee Williams was the Denzel of his day.

Diana Ross (Mohagany, Lady Sings the Blues),  Cecily Tyson (Sounder,  that movie where she plays the former slave who goes up to the water fountain - can't remember the name), Lena Horne [ I'm old school but not quite that old but I used to love watching her in old movies I thought she was so beautiful].

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Thank Deedee, I forgot about Jayne Kennedy.  In the looks department, Beyonce ain't got nothin on her!!

Rhonda, I couldn't remember the title, so looked it up. The Autobiograhpy of Ms Jane Pittman.  I was no older than seven when I saw that, but I distinctly remember that scene, because I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that they thought it was a big deal that she drank out of a water fountain.
