Fear of Afro with Holes
I started out with dreads before surgery (short ones but hey...) I had to go to the teeny weeny afro (TWA) after surgery, but it didn't have holes in it thank God. My daughter wears scarves all the time and she has hair down her back. She likes the versatility, being able to match them to her outfit, covering her hair when she does not feel like going through the hours of frying and curling before going to work, etc.
Either choice would be all good.

From one natural hair wearer to another....I didnt lose much hair at all and IMHO I think its because my hair hasnt beeen weaken/ altered by chemicals and flat irons.
Dear God I hope its the same for me. I'm natural except for coloring my gray and as I told another OH poster, I'm staying nappy til' the threat of hairloss is over.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Hi Tillmacc
Hair loss was a big fear of mine. My hair is very long but very thin .... was like that wayyyy before wls. I couldn't imagine it getting thinner. I started taking 10,000 mg of biotin per day and vitamin E about 6 months before surgery. Along with other vitamins and water.
After surgery I was sure to get in at least 125 grams protein per day (mostly in shakes early on but I still do 1 shake a day 4 years later). I have maintained same regime with vitamins, protein and water every since. My hair has never changed and perhaps might be a little thicker (tho not by much) than before wls.
But I would have shaved my head, worn a powdered wig or Indian feathers ....... to lose weight, get healthy and get my life back.
