Fear of Afro with Holes

I am preop and consider myself pretty informed about my decision for WLS. My only fear is hair loss. I hear that it may or may not happen but most likely will. I wear a very short afro and am concerned about having an afro with holes in it. I have worn wigs before but not in many years and going from the afro to a wig sounds a bit drastic. I am considering wrapping it in a scarf . What do you BAFers think. I know that the wrapped head isn't "in" now. At least I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods.

I am sorry to laugh but your description and title...just gave me a jacked up visual. I know that there are some that did not experience hair loss. I did. I think the most important factor is making sure you get enough protein in your diet. As for wigs and scarfs....I do both. I think the scarf is actually coming back in. And if not...hey...I don't mind being unique. I wish you all the best with your journey!  I am sure you will get other replies and perhaps more information.

That is my plan. Who knows, I may not have an afro with holes. Thanks for your support.

That's what my husband said "Do You" and nevermind what the current fashion trend is. I think I could pull it off. I don't usually lack self confidence. I saw that site and already found a few that I want to order (if need be). Thanks for your support.

That would be pushing to for me but Do You.

Now what I haven't been able to get past is a getting a swimsuit. I went to the pool a few years ago and saw a woman built just like me (with all the behind and hips and thighs) and haven't been in the water since. I have a family reunion this weekend and bought a Danskin set (shell tank and bottom to the knee) that I thought I would work for me but chickened out on that one too.

One day!

They do have a lot of cute ones. I was looking for something to come close to my knees. I have a lot to hide.

The one I have comes about 3 inches above my knees. When I first saw it i HATED it (old-lady-style??), but then tried it on, very modest yet cute, cute CUTE!!  If you have a Catherines close, may want to try them on.  Plus, I think those models are VERY tall??  It could be that I'm 5ft4 and that's why it's longer on me? Good luck & get out there - - - if I can, YOU surely can!!!      Gimme your arm woman, lets go.

P.S.
Wore a doggoned swim cap this weekend at the pool. My daughter said I looked like I had a bowling ball on my shoulders.  I didn't care. I'm working this bod to get where I need to be. Enjoy your event this weekend - will be thinking about you as I pose (?!?!?!?) at the pool.
