Since I had the day off I got caught up on my tv shows, Tyra had this Good Hair Bad Hair show.  Good lord why are these things still important.   Well we just got home from Chipotle where a black woman says to me "YOU HAVE SOME GOOD HAIR"   I wanted to freaking scream.

Good lord I got so sick of my sister feeling like crap when we were growing up from people saying that to me and not to her.  I cut my hair short once and got my ass beat for doing so.

Do yall think light skin and "good hair" will every be a non issue in our community?

Hi Lee!

No, some people really have issues with these two things.  Tom Joyner even has a dark skin/light skin event on his cruises which is all in fun and games.  However, I do not find it funny at all.  I will admit that I have a preference when it comes to men...to me there is nothing like a snicker's bar chocolate brutha.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

I didn't believe my generation would produce the first Black president, so perhaps there is hope.  We've got to un-shakle our collective psyche first.

That's my pet peeve too Lesia. It's all good hair and I love seeing all the beautiful skintones. I love India Arie's song "I Am Not My Hair", I wish that every little child of color would have to learn this song growing up and learn to love their differences.

And why do people always have to assume you mixed or got Indian in you.   Yeah it may be true for me and all.  LOL.   But black folks that aren't mixed can have good hair too.
