Excess Skin, Yes or No?
Hello all! I am new to the website. I was wondering how I could meet some Black American people on this website! LOL!
Question, I am hoping to be approved for the Lab Band system. I am currently 5'3" and 262 pounds. Given the surgery I have chosen (slower weight loss), my height, my weight and being a Black American woman (we have fabolous skin!) do you think excess skin will be an issue for me?

Hi and welcome (Don't want to get bashed)...Well my personal opinion is no matter which surgery you have there is a chance of excess skin...Prior to WLS I lost 70 lbs on my own going to 208 at my lowest and I had skin issues...I would hope that you did not but I would suggest to exercise and drink plenty of water.

Each person will be different. I do agree with you that the slower weight loss pace along with exercise will help somewhat in reducing the excess skin. I had a TT done in 2005 so I don't know if I would have had excess skin or not in that area. Otherwise, all of my other areas have shaped up quite nicely. As of now, I am considering having the back fat removed because no matter how much I exercise, it still sits there.
Good luck to you.
