Got a dog? Bet he/she needs a walk!
Okay, so I was really feeling that familiar "I don't wanna" regarding exercise this morning! It's going to be 90 or higher with high humidity today, so I had already told myself that it will feel awful outside this afternoon (when I planned on going).
I took my pups out in the backyard before feeding them this morning (the norm, as they are small) , when it hit me, I should just grab one and get out walking.
I followed through. Duchess and I hopped in the car & drove over to the lake park and power-walked for 45 minutes!! She loved it and so did I!
After our fast-pace, we did a warm-down; she had a sniff-fest since we were at the lake shore, fussed at 3 squirrels, a bunny, and lots of ducks. I got the treat of being near the water, which refreshes my spirit. The attendent at the park booth complimented on how beautiful she is, and how well-behaved she was (rare for her, LOL!). A victory for both of us!
Do you have a dog? If so, you know that a well exercised dog is a well-behaved dog as a bonus. Does your pup need a walk? Great reason to get out there!!!

I have a mini poodle named Jazzie thats quite lazy. After a few short blocks...she's dragging, tounge all out and stopping to rest herself.
My sweet girl has some issues......and lately all she wants is to be hugged all day and fed scraps from my plate. Regular dog snacks dont cut it no more.
Goodness ....is she depressed
Wish I could get the dog whisperer to tell me whats on her mind or even Victoria from off television.
She's not overweight....she's about 8 1'2 lbs........she's 2 yrs old......but she has alot of anxiety about people and moving to the city hasnt helped.
I would love to take her to nice area where she can walk freely with no leash even.......I think she misses the grass we used to have. Concrete just dosent feel the same under her little paws.
Poor thing.....Im gonna plan a little trip just for her so she can get her fresh air in. I love her enough to do just that.
Great post thanks for sharing........go you and Duchess for putting your best foot forward

In life, and especially on this journey there are sure to be days when you falter and give in.......just remember to never give up.
Never ever let them eat human food ~except peanut butter in a Kong toy~ .... then she could be experiencing anxiety from the move....you should call one of them....I watch both shows and I love Victoria "Me or the Dog?".....I actually use both of their tips....and it is REALLY working with Rascal!
Now, I just hafta get everyone in my home to let Ras know they are the leader of the pack...but he only minds ME! He is so damn funny too....
You can also talk to your vet!
Now about the walking them LOL
Ras is a Maltese....we walk in the neighborhood daily and he loves to run me....we went to the park on Monday and he was so damn tired. I had his rabbit bottle (with water) and kept giving him water, but he was so happy to see the truck! My puppybaby jumped up in his seat and ready to go home.

I bet Raz is a cutie! Maltese are beautiful pups!
I agree on the human food thing! They get tummy issues very easily with food that varies from their daily kibble.
I love that you have a rabbit bottle for him! I just bring a dish & pour some bottled water to share with them when we are away from home. Very creative!

OMG!!! You have a 'Jazzie' too!!!
In the interest of full-disclosure here & now, we have 4 dogs! Yep, FOUR DOGS!!! I had dogs all my life; Hubby's first dog was ours together. He is crazy about dogs now.
Our pups are Duke & Duchess, who are litter mates (we refer to them as twins) and they are Miniature Pinschers. They look just like Doberman Pinschers, but are only 1 foot tall. They are black & tan.
The other 2 are Pomeranian, Princess Jasmine, aka Jazzy, and Princess GingerSnap. They are not blood-related, but are 1 week apart in age. Jazzy is the only one in the bunch to be overweight. She is blond and over-sized for a Pom. Ginger is "the Baby", she's 5 pounds of cinnamon fluff and the cutest thing we ever saw! Her pic is my avatar.
The only non-dog food our crew gets are: baby carrots, apple slices, and plain salad greens (for the 2 who like them) and a daily spoonful of plain yogurt. These were what the Vet said we should stick with. Occasionally, peanut butter in a Kong toy, but that's rare.
Exposure to the thing that scares her is the best thing to get her past it; especially if you two are walking. I've had to pick Ginger up & continue my walk, she will quit on me! Duchess use to do that, but I tell her to keep going and prod the leash a little. It took her time to build up to it, but she will eagerly walk as far as I can go now.
Caesar Milan is awesome! He is right about how walking them bonds you and gets them to trust us more.
Best wishes to you & your Jazzie!!!
