If it's white it may not be right !!!!  I'm talking about food y'all.   You've heard this a thousand times before surgery and guess what, it's even more crucial after surgery. White bread, white rice, white potatoes, pasta etc. basically all those carbs are just not good for us. I'm not saying you won't ever be able to eat these things but putting limits on carbs will help make your surgery a success and also may keep you from dumping. Carbs turn into sugar into our bodies so we have to be careful about what type of carbs we eat. Some of us can eat some whole wheat bread from time to time or wheat pasta, brown rice without any adverse effects but I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis and as always try it at home first. Sweet potatoes would be better than white potatoes, spaghetti squash with meat sauce would be a better choice over regular pasta.

Read up on carbs and see how much sugar they have in them also. Fruit naturally is a carb and naturally has sugar so sometimes you have to be careful and follow your NUT's guidelines. I've found that by adding cottage cheese to my fruit or adding fruit to my protein drink that I balance things out. Learn about your carbs and how they affect your body and how they can stall your weight loss.

thanks so much for this information. Now I know why my NUT told me not to eat them.

Carbs are the devil!    ESPECIALLY in regular soft drinks and juices...what a waste of daily carb allowance!!

Good tip...thanks Rita!
