Rant and Rave Board is NOT for everybody!!! Newbie Alert

Um. Okay. First of all, the Grammar Queen "is not the boss of me" to quote my kids, and secondly I never correct anyone's grammar outside R&R except under one tiny little cir****tance: when they malign the intelligence of other people. Once you call other people stupid, ignorant, cretinous or any other words that insult their intelligence, in my opinion you open yourself up to have your grammar scrutinized. Maybe that's right. Maybe that's wrong. But it is who I am and after 44 years on the planet, I don't see it changing any time soon and it seems to work in every other online communit I'm a part of.

As for "ignant" being slang, I have lived in predominantly African American neighborhoods -- both in Seattle and in Oakland -- for a lot of my adult life and have never ever heard that term used as slang. But I have to believe you guys, and of course offer my apologies if I've caused offense, which was of course not my intent.  I suppose it would have been better had I called people names like ***** hypocrite, etc. That would have been okay, right, MD? But heaven forbid I correct spelling. Yeahhh,okkkkaaay. Whatever.

My apologies to the others, though. I didn't mean to cause offense. It's always good to learn new slang, particularly since living and working where I do I mostly hang out with Alaska Natives so while I know a lot of their slang, I don't know much of the more recent stuff that people talk about in the Lower 48 (we're pretty isolated here). It's been about 10 years since I lived outside of the state and no doubt stuff has changed, so again, my apologies. I'm really not that much of a word nerd, despite the mug in my avatar.

Yup, a lot of us are heathens   and some R&R regulars are even GAY.

Now, why did you relate being a heathen with being Gay...That's like those P.E.T.A. people who said animal rights are equal to Black Civil Rights. REALLY CRAZY the way some people see the world.

Read your bible.  There are proscriptions against both having no god and against a man laying down with another man.  Both proscriptions are outrageous, in my opinion.
