Thailand.
Dubai culture got a whole against woman thing - so not the good look in my opinion.
Bahamas are trite and played out - everybody tries that one
Thailand - interesting - I have a fondness of Asian cultures and think that would be an eye opening trip.

Funny you mention Dubai and their culture against women, that is exactly why I want to go. I did a lot of research on them a long time ago and found it fasinating and not as repressive as most Arab countries. My only problem is I would be nessled in the middle east. Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. Tensions are still quite high in these areas so I really have to do more thinking on that one.
I honestly don't want to go to the Bahamas, Becca wants to go but I can't stand going to places that everyone goes to on a regular so I am feeling that may not be it.
Thailand may be the winner, but maybe not.
There are other places I am considering also.

What I don't like about the Bahamas is that the resort areas are beautiful, then you go into the cities and it's black folks living in extreme poverty. It is depressing. But that is how it is in most areas of the Caribean but I just don't know.
Becca only wants to go to the Bahamas to stay at the Atlantis hotel. But they have the world's tallest and most luxurious hotel in Dubai, the Burj Al Arab which makes the Atlantis look like nothing.

DUBAI--hand's down.
While Islamic the United Arab Emirates by far is the most lenient of Islamic nations and their are large groups of practicing Christians and even Jews.
Absolutely gorgeous, they speak English, lots of shopping, excellent night life and you get a nice taste of the Arab world without the fear of some pyscho seeking his 40 virgins blowing your azz up because your American.
I have friends in the UAE and they love it--been there 5 or 6 years now.
The only real concern in regards to traveling to Dubai for you & Becca is that while they are very progressive (in comparison to other Arab nations) they are still very anti-gay. Islamic culture doesn't speak of tolerance and homosexuality is illegal. They have arrested people in the past and detained them.
My second choice would be Thailand. You are far too world-traveled to go to the Bahamas.
