Excess Skin...
A friend of mine started off at 425 lbs went down to 160 lbs without sagging skin issues. She looks like she's always been small, except her ankles are thicker than normal.
I watched the "True Life" WLS episode on yesterday and the girl who lost 100 lbs and had saggy skin on her belly. I would not had predicted the excess skin for her because she did not look like she had an enormous belly pre-op. I have about 130 lbs to lose, so that just made me curious as to what can be done to minimize or prevent excess skin.
Is there anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight and does not have the excess skin?
Thanks.
May I ask, how old is your friend? Losing that much, I'm really surprised that she had no excess skin... I think she might be one of the exceptions.
The only thing I have heard that MIGHT help is getting all of your protein from soy products... not sure if thats true...
I saw that True Life episode too--I think the guy started out at 400-something, was only 21 and had skin everywhere!

I have minor sags and could probably do fine with out plastics ...however I am very jiggaly in the thighs
.....I was the bottom heavy type of big girl. I am sure if I was to get plastics done on my thighs I would probably go down 1 to 2 pants sizes...but I am happy with them cause the sag makes me look like I still got hips

Could "rate of loss" be a factor too? What about exercise? I've got this in the back of my mind too. Kinda makes me nervous but I'm pluggin away - trying to walk & do my weights daily.
Any vets w/any facts for us?? I've got 100+ to lose.
