Bye Bye Birdie
Old habits die hard and old thought patterns are even harder to kill off. Its all small stuff but its telling.
I refuse to take the skin off my chicken. Its the good tasting part and whats a couple of extra calories when I rarely top 600 a day at present. (I think I need an attitude adjustment here)
Day 1 I loved chicken pre-op; I probably ate it 5 days out a week for years. For now it tends to make me sick..I know this, but I want to try the KFC grilled chicken. So last night I buy the special 2 pc meal for $3.99. I'm thinking good deal and it can last 2 meals. I toss the biscuit in the trash and start on what has to be the smallest drumstick - I think they killed a chick to get one that size - but I figure good be less than 3 oz. this way. Ok, I eat it , it makes me throw up. Blessedly, I rarely get nauseated so after I toss it up - I' m usually done.
Day 2 - Audit coming up at work. Working very hard, very long at necessary but very boring tasks. Doing all those little things that end up being #6 on a list of 5 things to do. Its the type of day that in the past I would have started off with Krsipy Kreme's and ended up at the chinese buffet as I figure deserve something for working that hard. on something so boring under a deadline - and the food all that sugar and carbs has a slight narcotic effect. It takes the edge off - [for a minute- until it turns into the nightmare it is] I know I'll have some chicken. I probably ate too fast I think [delusional here] thats why I got sick before. So I try it again - I take tiny, tiny bites and I go really, really slow and then I have to throw it up again really, really fast...gotta give it up for now for real. I feel like I have bulemia and that doesn't feel good. This transition to solid foods seems to be real hit and miss.
Like my mother used to tell me: "why I gotta put my hand in the fire to see if the burner is hot.?"
Dumb post but I had to say good bye to the bird. Anybody else find it difficult to give up specific things that did the trick for a long time?
Sorry that I have nothing constructive to add--I fear that i'm a bit too far out to even remember!!! (hope and pray that you don't EVER do the same!!! Keep it all fresh in your mind and you'll have very little to worry about when you've accumulated some time under your belt!!) But wanted to wish you the best---good luck!!

So very true! Things you can't eat now may become tolerable later but it's best to NOT test the waters too soon. Introduce new foods one at a time...that way it's easier to determine what you can and cannot tolerate. Also, try new things at home, or some other familiar place. There's nothing worse than possibly getting sick out in public somewhere, or at an unfamiliar place.
It's natural for us to want to push the limits, most have done this and learned valuable lessons. The most valuable one learned is: THE POUCH RULES! So be prepared to give in. In the end, you will win....successful WL beats out all the other stuff.
My best to you on a successful journey.
