Did You Doctor Change Your Goal???

Several weeks ago, my surgeon told me to start slowing up the weight loss.

"Willis, WTH are you talking about???? I'm in this to WIN this!!! Has this MOFO been secretly talking to my family???"

According to him, my original goal of 145lbs will be too small. A better look for my frame is 160lbs. So we made a compromise - 150lbs, that would give me a healthy BMI of 23.5. I am wondering where the rest of the weight is going to come from, I really don't think skinny is going to be a good look for me...the head is already bobbling

~~~kicking rocks...going to change my ticker to update my new goal...aaarrrgghhh!!!~~~
So, did your surgeon change increase or decrease your goal? How did you feel? Did you ignore him? Compromise? Comply?
My NUT advised 167lbs...seriously . I think my starting weight may have played a part as well as my frame.
It is so ironic that you posted this statement.  I was just talking to my family last night about goal weights.  My surgeon didn't set a goal at all.  In fact, in all of the discussions I had with her, it never came up and with everything there was to learn and remember, it never crossed my mind to ask.  I set a goal for myself but I pulled that number out of you know where, it was just a guess.  I'm not sure what I should weigh.  My family said I should contact the surgeon's office and ask the question but that is because they are concerned that I will take it too far.  Maybe there is a resource on the internet or on this website that gives some general parameters for weight based upon height.
I based mine off the BMI charts which doesn't take body frame into consideration. I read somewhere that losing 70% of excess weight is a good base to start also.
These number games are messing up my plans .... aaaarrrrggghhhh
My doc never set a goal with me.  I set one for myself of 140 lbs but now I'm not so sure if I want to get that small.  (I may not have a choice) But I did ask him at my last appt. what a good weight would be for me and he said 150 lbs.  So I have only 12 more lbs to hit his goal so I will see when I get there if I want to take those 10 more lbs off.  I don't want my head to start bobbling either..lol.
I saw your recent pics...size 8??? That is AWESOME!!!
What's up with not having a choice about the weight? Are you worried that your body will continue to lose after you start maintenance?
Thanks Juanita.  I just think that my body will still lose even after getting to 140 or 150 lbs.  I actually am supposed to be around 125lbs because of my height (5'2") but I think that will be too small for my liking.. we will see what happens.
Yep, my goal was 158 and my Doctor wants me to be at 135. I am currently 145. I think that 135 is personally too small, because right now I am currently rocking a size 6 and some 5's. I did this for a change so I will see how far I can go safely. I have a few friends who have had the surgery and they are now wishing that they got to the goal weight that the Doctor had set for them instead of listening to HATERS. People who are used to the old you will think you look funny @ 1st then your flynest takes over then they start to HATE. So you can't please everyone just please yourself.
Thanks for responding!
How tall are you? I'm 5'7" and at 177lbs, my size 12s are very loose, but I'm too scared to buy some 10s for fear that I will jinx myself...I know crazy huh?  If I hit a size 8 before I hit *my* goal, I would be cool.
Congrats on you great weight loss!
