OT- This womb for rent
Ayy yo,
I just read on Yahoo that:
"Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are expecting twins through a surrogate."
Now I realize that these two people are possibly very busy actors but if they are so busy then why would the try and add children to their already busy lives? I don't get it.
But my questions to you, BAF and BAF-ettes (lurkers), are:
1. Do you view having children through a surrogate the same as having children via the "Va Jay-Jay" (as Oprah calls it)? Why or why not?
2. Would you have a surrogate have your baby for you? Why or Why not?
3. Brothas (specifically), would you push to adopt a child(ren) if your SO couldn't conceive or carry a baby to full term and deliver? Why or why not?
Holla atcha boy!
if i couldnt have children, and i wanted them (which of course i dont want no babies lol) i still wouldn't get a surogate cause thats too much money for something i got to clothe and feed and wipe they butt lol....but if i had the money and really really was desperate...then i would
My life is like McDonalds....I'm Lovin It
1. Do you view having children through a surrogate the same as having children via the "Va Jay-Jay" (as Oprah calls it)? Why or why not?
Yes...I would view the surrogate as the womb ONLY. Meaning they are the vehicle used, the parents raising the child are still the parents, whether they birthed them or not.
2. Would you have a surrogate have your baby for you? Why or Why not?
Yes, if I wanted kids badly and I was unable to have them myself.
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. - Oprah Winfrey
morning ayy.
they can conceive naturally but i'm not mad at her at-all. it's a serious and not always pleasant thing to take your body through and as they already have a biological child she might be over the *novelty*
is it the same as having a child naturally - your egg and your husband's sperm, that's genetically 100% your child so from that point of view, yes. if there's a process and a woman willing to help you skip over nausea or not being able to wear your shoes or having grown ass men pretend not to see you on a full subway car, i'm pumpin my fist for that and if i'd already had one child and wanted more, yup i'd skip the 40 weeks. the part i'd wrestle with is some Baby M type mess what happens if she can't separate her emotions from a "business transaction"
it's a growing controversy in this country b/c what american couples are choosing more often is contracting with a woman in india who agrees to be a surrogate for 6-8 grand compared to the average 40 grand fee here. lots of ethical debates going on.
"Brothas (specifically), would you push to adopt a child(ren) if your SO couldn't conceive or carry a baby to full term and deliver? Why or why not?"
If I "really" wanted to have another child...and my SO couldn't concieve...I would discuss with her my desire to have a surrogate first...and adoption as the second option.
I would prefer that our child have the genes of one of us.............but.............if that was not an option, then I would adopt.
(Interesting question though)
