OT: TORTURE???

Yes, its torture based on the definition alone..."trying to get information through painful means from an unwilling person". Is it right? Well...while I don't agree with the death penalty...I don't see a problem with getting them dayum near close if its going to give us useful information that can potentially save lives. I mean even the medical supervised use of "Truth Serum" has been deemed torture in some people's minds. The main risk is that there is potential to harm an innocent person...that turns out not to be a terrorist with vital info. There is the risk that some will misuse the power ...as had already been proven. However, as with war...isn't there a similar risk...many of our innocent men and women soldiers lose their lives on a daily basis... Such is the price of war....I.E. the war on terrorism being an example.
ETA: I think sometimes are civility...makes us weak in the eyes of the enemy....JMO

And should the United States be involved in such a practice??? I think the problem comes in when OUR solidiers are captured by the enemy would we want our soldiers to be tortured the SAME way? So I guess if you look at it from that perspective then the USA should be fair, otherwise it could be tit for tat.
