First off Hey everyone..I been gone for a min but i did miss you all... Hope everyone is well...But anyway in other news....

If you were asked who should you listen to? Your surgeon or your nutritionist? who would you pick??

here is an example!!

The surgeon says not to eat bread and the other carby foods ect....

The nutritionist says eat whole grain carby foods and fruit because the carbs are important.

The surgeon says to exercise 7 days a week for atleast an hr a day.

The nut says to do 3-5 days a week for 45 min to an hr.

Interesting issue - for ME - the one who CUT me would instruct me - BUT - I would also tell the surgeon what the NUT is saying - he should be working with the NUT and if they are saying two different things - he needs to change it or tighten up his program referrals.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I agree listen to your surgeon! Always the surgeon! They went to school an trained for this.

My surgeon gave me the same advice no carbs, no exercise unless it was walking. I follow her instructions to the letter!

I have mixed emotions on this

Your surgeon cuts.

Your nutritionist is educated in the science of food.

That being said, in the first 12-18 months your surgeon rules.  It's maintenance that requires the nut.

Good Question.  I have similar diversity with my Nut and Surgeon.  Surgeon prefers whey products and Nut says its ok to have atkins for shakes.  I listen to my Nut and communicate with my surgeon.

I would think it would be better to listen to the surgeon.  Funny thing is your NUT and Surgeon aren't really that far apart in their recommendations.

When I was pre-op and found out I was borderline diabetic, my p.c.p told me to steer away from all carbs,  However, its kinda hard to to that...at least it was for me.  What a nutritionist advised me that if I WAS going to eat carb, keep away from processed/white flour.  The darker the grains/breads/pastas, etc, the better they are for you.  Just keep them to a minimum I was told.  I still try to stick to that, but mostly out of habit these days.

In terms of the exercise, in this case, they seem like a minimum and a maximum.  Both would be benefical to you in the long run.  Its just a matter of how much you can do intitally.  The thing about working out is that if you see it as drudgery or just too difficult, you may not want to do it. So, if I were you, I would do which ever amount of exercise I was comfy with first.. If you aren't used to working out before hand, maybe start with the 3-5 days a week, for 45 mins to an hours.  U can always work ur way up to 7 days a week, if you're that dedicated.

Mixed feelings but I think I would go with nut...unless they were completely different opinions.

Reason: my surgeon was primarily taught how to cut me, then how to feed me short term. My nut was taught how to feed me, then how to adjust and transition, and then how to maintain my loss. So I feel the nut has a lil more expierence when it comes to food. But not much!
