Today on Oprah, they had a woman who had brain surgery to suppress her appetite.  She was the  2nd woman in the US in this clinical trial for weight loss.  They insert these 2 rods into your brain which run all the way down to your shoulders attached to two metal plates.  Then they have some device which can turn on and off your brain senses for your appetite.  So it basically frying your brain.     Do you think this will pass and be the next big wls?

I don't know if I could do but head hunger was and still is 95% of my problem.  I think I need to eat because it's time for lunch, I think I need more than what I actually do, etc.

I saw that and all I can say is "Holy Crap!"  How in the heck do you get your insurance to cover something like that?!  Bariatric surgery was complicated enough but now you want to fry someone's brain.  Lord have mercy....

That was my next question.  If  it passes, how long would it take for the insurance companies to start covering it.

I remember 20 years ago just hearing about this surgery where they cut your stomach in half to help people lose weight.   I was like what the hell,  you have gotta be crazy to do something like that.

I saw this was on while I was at the gym yesterday. I was trying to keep up with the captions! LOL I don't know. I did notice the doc discussed how this was similar to something that they have been using to aid in fighting Parkinsonism for the last 12 years. I don't know about the brain frying part...it can be very well fine tuned. But I'm like Oprah...I don't know about electing to have BRAIN SURGERY!
