It's Been Almost 6 Years - And I Have Changed My Mind!
After reading Treena's post last week (gaining weight after undergoing two weightloss related surgeries), and seeing others (along with myself) post about gaining 30-40 lbs. since surgery, I have changed my mind - I WILL NO LONGER EAT "CRAZY" and I AM GOING BACK TO THE BASICS OF WEIGHTLOSS EATING!
Another situation that helped in my change of mind is that I am almost 6 years out and have begun DUMPING...big time! I didn't know what was going on over the past few days...but Friday - it was BAD.
I stopped by KFC and ordered the new grilled chicken...it was good; but I noticed an hour later, I began sweating...feeling faint...panting...and the food was stuck in my throat. The food never came back up but I was SOOO sick! I thought I was going to d-i-e right then and there. I have had several instances of food being stuck...a very uncomfortable feeling - and one that I have not experienced - not even after surgery.
Since I've been home, I have been drinking lots of water and taking a blood pressure pill that contains a diuretic...this caused me to lose 9 lbs. over the past 2 weeks. Yes, I was/am thrilled, but it also got me thinking that it was time for me to go back to basics and get myself back down to where I was (down 35 lbs.) and to begin the journey of losing the remaining 50 lbs.
So, here's my plan (All food items were purchased today):
1. I AM GOING BACK TO DRINKING PROTEIN SHAKES! I haven't had a protein shake in quite a while - well over a year. Bought Isopure.
2. I WILL MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO DRINK AT LEAST 80 OZS. OF WATER A DAY! I have done a great job getting to this goal.
3. I AM GOING BACK TO EATING PROTEIN-RICH FOODS! Tuna, chicken, fish, yogurt.
4. I WILL EAT ONLY FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
5. I WILL JOURNAL EVERY THING I EAT AND EVERY DROP OF WATER I DRINK.
6. I WILL MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO NOT EAT: Bread, rice, sugar, flours, cakes, candy, chips. Now this is the most difficult...but I will attempt to "just say no."
6. I WILL BEGIN EXERCISING AT MY DESK. Because of the surgery on my ankle, I cannot workout for at least 2 months; however, I can do upperbody exercises at my desk.
I have prayed on this...and will continue to do so, going forth. I know it can be done - I have seen too many of us here succeed - so, it's now my turn to show myself that I can reach this goal.
Hopefully, someone else who is struggling with weight gain issues following surgery will see this and join me in getting back on track to making this tool work! YES WE CAN!
Peace!
DD

This sounds like a very good plan to me. Its somewhat similar to what I have been doing. In addition, I have increased my protein/intake with increased frequency of meals (keeping my metabolism going
