Can get all the liquids and protein in.
Almost everybody I've heard of has this problem less than 2 weeks out. I am almost 7 weeks out and I continue to struggle with this. Blessedly, I am not lactose intolerant so I make my protein drinks with fat free milk and though its not my favorite thing to consume; I can stand it. IF I do 2 in a day I am good. There are some protein smoothie recipes I want to try one day [I'm not a big cook but that may have to change].
Although its expensive as all get out - I find ISOPURE - a ready to drink protein drink 40 grams protein - in a 20 oz bottle to be helpful. I like the Green Tea flavor. If i sip that all afternon and along with eating yougurt and pudding I can get the protein in. i find the Isopure at GNC.its about $ 4.50 a bottle [which is why I don't do it everyday - but there are days when I am truly dragging and the Isopure helps me a lot.
Good luck,
Rhonda

Maybe TMI - but are you constipated or just not going? I started taking colace - a stool softener my first week out after the pain meds had me constipated. Also I think you can drink sugar free metamucil to get some fiber in. Applesauce if you are allowed it can give you some fiber.
Good luck,
Rhonda

Hi SXYCOP,
Congrats to you too girl
. Before surgery I would put away a gallon of water daily, plus whatever other liquids, definitely not so now.
2 Ducolax, a suppository and a 1/2cup of decaf black coffee, helped me on the 7th day post-op. When it happens , don't be alarmed it will be very very dark, I called my doctors office scared to death and was told that it was normal due to the surgery. I was told that it will be normal now to have a B.M. maybe every 3 to 4 days, until food is introduced again. So I'm taking 1 Ducolax everyday. GasX has helped me with the gas problem. Sorry if I grossed out anyone, but this is normal bodily functions that us newbies need to know about. Hope that helps. Take care.

I had no problem drinking water when released from the hospital...actually felt parched. Averaged (4) 20oz bottles daily. Protein I hated based on principal but I mixed the chocolated Prorated brand that I was using w/ nsa carnation instant breakfast and shoked two servings down twice daily.
Some people have trouble drinking. Invest in a nice large thermonated container for your water. Maybe even add True Orange or Lemon to your water.
