thanks for the info...it really helps when we look around and see many of OUR children with weight issues, after we have gotten cut! My daughter doesnt have a weight problem, but I am guilty of sometimes giving in and giving her candy/fast food etc as a reward or treat. It's a lifelong behavior pattern, and we need to start them early, lest they end up in our shoes or worse later in life.

I am fortunate that neither of my boys have weight issues.  I do monitor junk food and sweet drinks in my household as well as trying to keep them active. My mother is overweight and loves to visit me.  Although she yo yos due to not being good on her own, she knows that between the food in my house and chasing behind my little looney that she is guarunteed to lose a size.  Makes me wonder why I don't chase my own kid for those results...lol.

But anyway, I do admit that I wonder about as you mentioned...the parents who have surgery but don't make it a household project to change.  Many have posted pics of overweight spouses and or children so you wonder and hope that in making the lifestyle change to be sucessful after surgery that we share and recruit loved ones.

I have been on due to illness but looking thru these topic this is one that I had to respond to. My DH has taken to buying more junk food then I've every seen him eat in our hold live time together. The more I lose the more junk food he brings in what up with that and when I say something about it he looks at me like what are you talking about. I don't know want to even tell him anymore, I've told him I had this surgery so when he retire we can do things together.  Because I was just overweight enough not to want to go anywhere now he looks like he trying to get to where I was. Tears didn't help either I even start going to the store most of the time myself now but on his way back home from work he will stop for his own junk food.  I have done him like a kid and limit the amount that can be used on the bank card that didn't help either.
He likes his work car because of the distance he has to
drive he doesn't spend much on gas but the junk food.
And it not as those I don't cook I cook more now than I did before surgery and not fatty foods.

Maybe he is going thru something that he doesn't feel up to addressing  yet? Something has to be wrong if you've had conversations related to the topic worthy of tears.....

Why wait til retirement? Once you're feeling better, draw him out now. Find things to do...romantic walks in the park with a healthy picnic meal; walks/drives out looking at things that interest him but making sure to skip a restaurant dinner...anything that will have the two of you up and moving together.

Thanks  will try the walks the drives have not done a thing yet.
I've tried four days weekends off without no one know where we are to talk and if there a TV shame on me.
We have even taken several long drives along and still no
answer nor questions. We gone to places we use to go and still nothing.  I think it maybe time for the nut i guess.    I've taken meals when we go and the hold thing not to have to leave the room. After a few more trips I guess it may be time to see the nut. Before the Grandson enter in July. Then it will just give him something else to not want to go to the nut.
