New Post-op Tip of The Day
Hey Y'all my computer came back fixed except for the cord so I'll be posting as much as I can.
For the recent newbies, I am just a little over a year out myself and I'm not a dr., nutritionist, nurse or have a medical license but I like to do tips to help people along the way as a way of paying it forward because this board has been so helpful to me. I've been away a few weeks because I didn't have a computer.
My tip today seems so simple but it is quite hard. It is simply taking one day at a time. If anybody would have asked me the first 5 weeks of surgery how I felt, I probably would have said, "Don't do it !!!!!!" I got an infection in the port site, I couldn't keep my water, vitamins or protein down. This was not the norm but it was my reality. After my infection got under control and my dr. gave me some meds for nausea so I could drink and eat broth and have protein shakes, I was a new woman and loved my surgery. But even today it is one day at a time because I still want fried foods, spaghetti, cheesecake etc. and it is soooo true that they operated on our stomachs not our brains. We put our lives on the line for this surgery but sometimes it's hard to say no to food but many times our bodies says no for us. So my tip today is to treat your body like the temple that it is and fight those demons. Find support groups do what works for you and take it one day at a time.
