Thinking again ~from JusChng post~
We speak all the time on what makes a good dad. What makes a woman a good mother? I mean, I am not going to let my children go lacking....I live in burbs which I hate for THEM....me and uppity white people don't get along...in fact, I almost went to jail for road rage last week ~ducks in shame~ I do it so my kids can have a good education (they are in the number one school system) and go outside and play without worry or fear....but truth is, I would much rather be in the city.
So, the choices I make are for my children. I work a job I don't LOVE ~notice love--I like it--just don't LOVE it~ to bring home good money to provide for them. I have left my $300 weaves for $75 weaves so they can have $200 braids.
I shop on a clearance rack so they can have extra.....but most importantly, I give up TV so we can read ~family read nights....they read to me and I read to them~, we have girls only sleepovers....pamper day, etc. buuuuuuttt....my kids love bkfast. I hate it!
I did cook bkfast this morning because Kenn asked me to due to them taking the Ohio Achievement test and she won't eat lunch until after 1pm....she said, "Mommy, I can eat breakfast everyday!" I felt so baddddddd. But I ain't cooking in the morning LOL
So, what makes a good mom?!

I guess for me...its telling our children we love them everyday. When my mom got married and sent me to live with my grandma (took me a long time to forgive her for this), I always doubted her love for me. I don't ever want my kids to doubt my love. Of course, I show them through actions...similar to what you mentioned above...but I also tell them sporadically throughout our day. I just blurt it out..."I love you" and it doesn't matter what we might be doing at the time or who is around. A mother's love is a powerful thing if you have it or if you feel its been taken away.
Thanks...I needed to hear that!
