So, Treena asked how many kids you would have if you were rich....part of my response, every woman is not meant to be a mother--I am one of those women.

We speak all the time on what makes a good dad. What makes a woman a good mother?  I mean, I am not going to let my children go lacking....I live in burbs which I hate for THEM....me and uppity white people don't get along...in fact, I almost went to jail for road rage last week ~ducks in shame~ I do it so my kids can have a good education (they are in the number one school system) and go outside and play without worry or fear....but truth is, I would much rather be in the city.

So, the choices I make are for my children. I work a job I don't LOVE ~notice love--I like it--just don't LOVE it~ to bring home good money to provide for them. I have left my $300 weaves for $75 weaves so they can have $200 braids.

I shop on a clearance rack so they can have extra.....but most importantly, I give up TV so we can read ~family read nights....they read to me and I read to them~, we have girls only sleepovers....pamper day, etc. buuuuuuttt....my kids love bkfast. I hate it!

I did cook bkfast this morning because Kenn asked me to due to them taking the Ohio Achievement test and she won't eat lunch until after 1pm....she said, "Mommy, I can eat breakfast everyday!" I felt so baddddddd. But I ain't cooking in the morning LOL

So, what makes a good mom?!

It seems like you have mentioned what makes a good mother.  Someone who understands unconditional love and is willing to make sacrifices.  I'm still in my selfish stage so I'm not ready to be a mother but I pray I'll be there one day.

Hi Dedee,

I guess for me...its telling our children we love them everyday. When my mom got married and sent me to live with my grandma (took me a long time to forgive her for this), I always doubted her love for me.  I don't ever want my kids to doubt my love.  Of course, I show them through actions...similar to what you mentioned above...but I also tell them sporadically throughout our day.  I just blurt it out..."I love you" and it doesn't matter what we might be doing at the time or who is around.  A mother's love is a powerful thing if you have it or if you feel its been taken away.

OH WOW! ~smooches~ I tell my kids I love them just as much as I tell them I can't stand their asses. I guess I need to cut back on the "I can't stand your ass" huh?!

Thanks...I needed to hear that!

I think one of the main traits that makes a good mother is the willingness to "be there" for your children.  I know I had a tendency to tune my kids out due to stress or just plain old tiredness. To be present in each moment in their lives in the best "earthly gift" I personally can give my kids, like when they want to tell you detailed stories about the way they hurt their finger at school or when they want to show you their "artwork".  I have found that means the a lot to my kids.  BUT ABOVE ALL....I think what makes a good mother is one who prays over her children and prays with their children.

DANG! Okay...another I needed to hear......okay "read"  but I am so guilty of being selfish and making them fiend for themselves....like I will order pizza and pop.....lock myself in my room and just have a "me" moment. Okay, okay....I will just have to start being there! Anything could happen. Thank you ~smooches~

YOU CAN GO TO JAIL FOR THAT???  I better tone it down!!

As for what makes a good mother--I think you listed it!

I was not made nor to be honest ever intended to be a mother but I will sacrifice myself for mine in a minute.

You can when you get out of your car, walk to their car in a traffic jam, tap on their window and call them a racist asse trick!

Oh no!  You need to worry about getting shot, not going to jail!  Please be careful--racist asse tricks are usually ignorant NRA-card carrying members.
