Well baby love... they dont remove them they repair them.  it can be a easy thing depending on your size and shape I say that because the first one I was over 400lbs it was the worse experience I has a very large belly and it took me longer to recover the second one was easy.  they make the incision.  I lost my belly button (I had a deep one) but they go in an pu**** back out of the way of your intestine and with some mesh or some kind of something they try to keep it from obstructing important stuff like intestine.  My advice is watch how much you lift and do....I heard last week i may have a new one.  I am not certain but one may be forming again or I may have to have another repair of the same one.  Why I started really living and doing.  I made up my mind if it is bigger than my purse. dont pick it up.  too much stress.  I hope this helps.   BTW healing time is not that long or bad.

I had one repaired last year and it wasnt so bad.....the only thing I didnt like was it did take a while for the scar tissue to form around the mesh they put in so it would get sore  or feel like it was scratching me.

I just had a hernia repair in February, it was open because I have a lot of scar tissue but if they can perform it lap the down time is not long.  I was home from work for over 4 weeks because I am a punk sister can't stand to much pain :) Hernia's are common after any type of abdominal surgery.... Like someone else said don't lift heavy things after the hernia repair give it a lot of time.
